Job Description
- Working under the overall supervision of the Program Manager Peacebuilding & Reconciliation & the Public Information Officer & the direct supervision of the National Communication Officer or Senior Communications Assistant, Abuja, the successful candidate will support communication activities & plans across our clients Katsina sub office programmatic work areas.
- S / He will be responsible for collecting information to produce various communications products for external & internal audiences. In collaboration with the public information team, s / he is responsible for the following tasks in accordance with our clients regulations, rules & procedures.
In particular, s / he will:
- Support collection, dissemination & editing of field materials like images, videos & interviews with beneficiaries for different audiences, including government partners, donors & media.
- Support the planning & coordination of communication activities, including through online & offline communications.
- Assist with adhering to our clients brand & visibility guidelines & rules.
- Contribute with ideas to the conceptualization & development of communications materials, including multimedia products & content for social media channels for our clients Nigeria & other global platforms.
- Assist with responding to media inquiries & other ad hoc requests.
- Collect & collate information from various units at the sub office to support the production of briefers, situation reports, donor reports, website texts, brochures, flyers & social media messages.
- Capture & record human interest stories.
- Conceptualize, design & edit flyers, project brochures, newsletters, project reports etc.
- Adhere to our clients protection principles on interviewing vulnerable persons.
- Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
Project reporting:
- This role works under the overall supervision of the Program Manager Peacebuilding & Reconciliation & the Public Information Officer & the direct supervision of the National Communication Officer or Senior Communications Assistant, Abuja.
Job Requirements
- University Degree / Certificate in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training & experience.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in communications & public information.
- Proven ability to produce work accurately & concisely according to set deadlines.
- Strong communication, coordination & interpersonal skills.
- Efficiency, flexibility, high level of professionalism & ability to work under pressure & adhere to strict deadlines.
- Ability to stay in high-risk areas for a prolonged duration with remote management from supervisors.
- Ability to present clear & concise information & good written & verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively & harmoniously with colleagues from varied cultures & professional backgrounds.
- Fluency in English & Hausa is required.
- Fluency in Kanuri, Fulfulde, Pidgin or any other local languages spoken in north west of Nigeria is desirable.
- Takes responsibility for action & manages constructive criticisms.
- Works effectively well with client & stakeholders.
- Promotes continuous learning for self & others.
