Job Position: Compliance Officer / MLRO – Nigeria

Job Location: Lagos (Remote)

Job Description}

  1. Oversee and manage the Know Your Customer (KYC) onboarding process for new customers and update those existing.
  2. Ensure compliance with local and international regulatory requirements related to customer identification and verification.

Transaction Monitoring:

  1. Enhance transaction monitoring systems to detect and report suspicious activities.
  2. Conduct periodic reviews and assessments to ensure the effectiveness of transaction monitoring processes.

AML/CFT Compliance:

  1. Possess in-depth knowledge of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Counter-Terrorism Financing (CFT) regulations.
  2. Develop and enforce AML/CFT policies and procedures to safeguard against financial crime risks.

Regulatory Compliance:

  1. Stay abreast of the regulatory landscape governing the payments industry in Nigeria.
  2. Interpret and communicate regulatory changes, with a focus on AML/CFT requirements, to relevant stakeholders within the organization.
  3. Establish and maintain strong relationships with regulators in Nigeria and other African countries.

Remittance Compliance:

  1. Develop and implement compliance procedures specific to remittances and cross-border payments.
  2. Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements governing remittance services.

Risk Assessments:

  1. Conduct regular risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential compliance risks.
  2. Collaborate with other departments to implement risk mitigation strategies.

Reporting:

  1. Report findings and other compliance matters related to AML/CFT to different stakeholders in a clear and understandable manner.
  2. Ensure timely and accurate reporting to internal and external stakeholders as required by regulations.

Training and Awareness:

  1. Provide training to staff on compliance policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, with a specific focus on AML/CFT.
  2. Foster a culture of compliance awareness within the organization.

MLRO Responsibilities:

  1. Fulfill the role of Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) for the company in Nigeria.
  2. Report suspicious activities and transactions to relevant authorities as required by Moroccan regulations.
  3. Ensure the effective operation of the internal reporting procedures for suspicious activities.
  4. Proven experience in goAML.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field; additional certifications (e.g., CAMS, ACAMS, ICA) are a must.
  2. Proven experience in a compliance role within the financial services industry, with a focus on payments and remittances.
  3. In-depth knowledge of KYC processes, transaction monitoring, and AML/CFT regulations.
  4. Familiarity with Nigerian and African regulatory frameworks for the payments industry.
  5. Experience in engaging with regulators and maintaining positive relationships.
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
