Job Position: Compliance Officer
Location: Mushin, Lagos

Job Purpose

To ensure the development and implementation of risk policies and procedures in the organisation

Job Responsibilities 
Risk Assessment & Monitoring:

  1. Collaborate with relevant teams to identify, assess, and quantify operational and compliance risks.
  2. Maintain and regularly update the organisation’s risk register on a weekly and monthly basis.
  3. Track the implementation of risk mitigation strategies and validate outcomes.
  4. Recommend improvements to internal processes to enhance control effectiveness.
  5. Assist in the investigation of fraud, inefficiencies, and other anomalies, providing actionable recommendations.

Compliance & Internal Controls:

  1. Participate in the design and implementation of internal control processes to mitigate identified risks.
  2. Monitor compliance with internal policies, regulatory obligations, and risk standards.
  3. Conduct internal reviews to ensure adherence to risk management protocols.
  4. Identify and report emerging risks and control gaps with recommended mitigation strategies.

Key Performance Indicators

  1. Accuracy and timeliness of risk register updates
  2. Effectiveness of implemented risk controls.
  3. Number and quality of process improvement recommendations
  4. Compliance level with regulatory and internal risk policies

Job Specifications
Educational Requirements:

A good first degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, or any other related areas

Professional Requirements:

Membership of the ICAN, ACCA or any other related professional qualification is an added advantage

Experience Requirements:

Minimum of 2 years of work experience in an administrative capacity in a similar industry/environment

Knowledge Requirements:

  1. Knowledge of legislation, its changes and developments as they affect the Food Industry,
  2. Knowledge of Fundamentals of Accounting
  3. Knowledge of Risk & Compliance standards or processes
  4. Knowledge of legal standards and in-house policies
  5. Knowledge of reporting procedures and record-keeping
  6. Knowledge of the QSR/Food Industry practices, Good interpersonal, communication and flexibility

Decision Expectations

  1. Recommend business improvement opportunities
  2. Identify potential risks, offer risk mitigations and monitor the progress of risk mitigation activities
  3. Assist in risk minimisation

Working Conditions:

  1. Jobholders typically work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, although they may be involved in weekend or evening work.
  2. This role is largely office-based, although at times the individual may require travel to meetings held off-site, as the company has more than one office.
  3. The role requires precision and attention to detail, as it involves managing risks.
