Job Position: Content Writer Intern

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description

  1. We are looking for a skilled and ambitious corp member with at least a year of experience in writing and creating clickable content on socials to join our news blog team.
  2. The successful candidate will be responsible for researching, writing, reporting news stories and creating social media-worthy content on a wide range of topics, and ensuring that all content is high quality, accurate, and engaging.
  3. He/She will be expected to conduct interviews, attend events, and use a variety of sources to gather information for their stories.
  4. They will work closely with the Editor-in-Chief and other members of the team to ensure that all content aligns with the publication’s goals and editorial guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Research, write, and report news stories on a variety of topics
  2. Conduct interviews with sources and gather information from a variety of sources, including online research, public records, and other sources
  3. Attend events and press conferences to gather information for stories
  4. Manage social media page of the blog
  5. Pitch story ideas to the Editor-in-Chief and work collaboratively with other team members to ensure timely delivery of content
  6. Ensure that all content meets the publication’s standards for accuracy, quality, and style
  7. Stay up-to-date on current events and trends, and adjust the editorial strategy as needed
  8. Use SEO best practices to optimize content for search engines and social media platforms

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Communications or a related field
  2. One or less years of experience in a reporting or journalism role, preferably in a digital media environment
  3. Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
  4. Strong research and investigative skills
  5. A strong and really active presence on social media with a digital footprint of work done
  6. Strong interest in gossip and content creation
  7. Proof of social media management skill
  8. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a team
  9. Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  10. Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
