Job Position: Data Science Developer
Location: Lagos

Job Summary

The Data Science Developer will play a key role in bridging the gap between data science models and production deployment. This individual will assist in operationalising machine learning models within the production environment and will be responsible for developing and implementing business rules within a commercial decision engine (a low-code software development environment). This role requires close collaboration with both the data team and the software engineering team.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Deploying machine learning models developed by the Decision Science team into the production environment.
  2. Developing, testing, and implementing business rules within a commercial decision engine to automate decision-making processes.
  3. Collaborating with data engineers to ensure seamless data flow and integration for model deployment and rule execution.
  4. Working closely with software engineers to integrate deployed models and business rules into existing systems and applications.
  5. Participating in the monitoring and maintenance of deployed models and business rules, identifying and resolving issues as they arise.
  6. Contributing to the documentation of deployment processes, business rules, and system configurations.
  7. Examples of machine learning models and business rules to be deployed or developed:
    • Credit approval scorecard
    • Credit underwriting rules
    • Fraud scorecard

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in a quantitative field (e.g. Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Economics)
  2. 3+ years of working experience as a software engineer (postgraduate experience included)
  3. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
  4. Strong communication skills to effectively communicate software design and progress to stakeholders
  5. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
  6. Experience in the fintech industry
  7. Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
