Job Position: Data Warehouse Developer

Job Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Job Description

  1. Architect data in the cloud (open to cloud platform)
  2. Own and drive the technical design, development, and day-to-day support of the Data Warehouse and associated ETL processes
  3. Support ongoing data quality and data integrity initiatives through audit, balance, and control procedures, alerts and reports, and automated recovery
  4. Designs, develops, extends, and maintains Data Warehouses and Data Marts
  5. Provides expert level application and data analysis for data warehouse and systems integration projects
  6. Manages and monitors of daily database backups of databases from operational systems
  7. Designs and codes ETL processes and constructs OLAP data sources
  8. Develops the scripts used to load data into the data warehouse
  9. Develops scripts and programs to extract data from source systems
  10. Develops the scripts necessary to incrementally evolve the data warehouse data model
  11. Creates and maintains project requirements documents
  12. Creates technical project documentation
  13. Works closely with Applications Architect and Project Managers to ensure proper architecture design and compliance with database and development standards
  14. Implements and deploys phases of business intelligence and systems integration projects
  15. Performs production support of data warehouse and BI related systems
  16. Advises/recommends project and activities as related to system/architectural direction and strategy
  17. Assist with identifying required data in various source environments identifying data quality gaps
  18. Experience: Strong understanding of database structures/Data Modeling, theories, principles and practices
  19. Solid understanding of dimensional modeling, STAR schema design, Snow fake schema design, slowly changing dimensions, confirmed dimensions.
  20. ETL design, development and monitoring
  21. Proficiency in the use of DBMS tools for various DBMS including Microsoft SQL Server, Postgres, MySQL and ETL tools
  22. Proficiency in SQL Language Scripting
  23. Eight or more years in database/data warehouse development experience
  24. Previous experience supporting a data warehouse optimized for a Business Intelligence environment preferred
  25. Ability to execute assigned tasks with a high degree of independence based on verbal or written requirements
  26. Ability to adhere to coding standards and participate in peer code reviews
  27. Some shell scripting skills is an added advantage

Job Responsibilities

  1. Daily Database Backup Management
  2. Successful executions of all ETL jobs and processes
  3. Data Warehouses and Data Marts that is online and available with up-to-date information

Work Environment:

  1. Fast paced environment with occasional high pressure or emergent situations
  2. Work hours subject to office needs to ensure coverage during all hours of operation
  3. Interaction with diverse population of team members across the group, insurance, IT, and healthcare divisions.

Physical Demands:

  1. Frequent sitting and regular meetings
  2. Frequent use of computer and keyboard.
