Job Description

  1. We are seeking a Design Engineer to join the Engineering team in Nigeria. This individual will play an integral role in providing support to the Engineering Design Team in ensuring the effective, efficient, and timely implementation of all engineering design inputs for HMGs, and C&I installations.
  2. We are looking for someone who has the willingness and enthusiasm to grow and learn the technicalities around electrical design and understands the need and use of technology (and its application) in the design of power installations.
  3. The individual should also be passionate about contributing to solving one of Nigeria’s most critical challenges – the energy access deficit.

Job Responsibilities
General:

  1. Play a key part as a member of the Engineering Team in systems sizing, design, and analysis.
  2. Demonstrate ethics and professionalism.
  3. Support the optimization of various Husk NG activities to ensure best practices are entrenched towards more efficient processes.
  4. Assist in documenting and developing industry best practices, standards and guidelines.
  5. Research, document and comply with local and national code requirements in project jurisdictions.
  6. Engineering Design
  7. Create, review, and modify drawing sets and technical inputs in AutoCAD and other custom software tools.
  8. Work closely within the larger Engineering Team to promptly deliver system designs.
  9. Support Engineering and Installation Teams with surveys and feasibility assessments.
  10. Complete electrical and structural designs for projects and other design submissions.

Business Support:

  1. Coordinate with site assessors, project managers and sales teams to complete designs’ meeting customers’ expectations within set deadlines.
  2. Create bill of quantities (BOQ), bill of materials (BOM) as per design and support the specification of components for the procurement process.
  3. Provide quality inputs and installation support where required during the construction phase.
  4. Other duties may be assigned from time to time.

Job Requirements
Does this sound like you?

  1. Graduate from a leading institution with a related Degree in Engineering or Sciences. Post-graduate degree and/or related professional qualifications considered a positive.
  2. Have basic knowledge of general electrical designs and interpretation of electrical drawings.
  3. Familiarity with relevant software including AUTOCAD, HOMERPro, Odyssey, PVSyst, etc.
  4. Excellent problem-solving skills are required.
  5. A clearly defined strategic thought process and a continuous improvement mindset.
  6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
  7. Excellent organizational and time management skills
  8. Excellent people skills, able to manage, motivate and discipline if necessary.

Physical Demands:

  1. Have full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
  2. Could work in outdoor weather conditions at certain times.
  3. Have adequate visual and hearing acuity to follow instructions; and determine accuracy of the work assigned.
  4. Ability to work in rural, peri-urban locations as required.
