Job Position: Digital & Social Media Officer

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Description

  • To develop, implement, and manage digital & social media strategies to promote the organization’s mission of combating maternal and infant mortality in Nigeria.
  • The ideal candidate should have a diverse skill set that combines technical ICT support capabilities with strategic digital communication and social media management expertise to create engaging content, manage online presence, engage stakeholders, and leverage digital platforms to increase visibility and support programme objectives.

Job Responsibilities
Digital Strategy Development:

  • Develop and implement comprehensive digital marketing strategies to enhance the organization’s online presence and engagement.
  • Create and execute campaigns across various digital platforms, including social media, email, and websites.
  • Prepare regular reports on digital and social media activities, including key performance indicators and impact assessments.

Content Creation and Social Media Engagement:

  • Produce high-quality, engaging content for digital channels, including social media posts, blog articles, newsletters, and website updates.
  • Manage the organization’s website, ensuring it is up-to-date, user friendly, and aligned with strategic objectives.
  • Monitor social media channels for engagement, respond to inquiries, and manage interactions with followers.
  • Track and analyze digital campaign performance using tools like Google Analytics, social media insights, and other metrics.

Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Collaborate with internal teams to gather and share updates, success stories, and program highlights.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including partners and donors, through digital channels to build relationships and support fundraising efforts.
  • Recommend and implement innovative approaches to enhance the organization’s digital presence and effectiveness.

Training and Guidance:

  • Offer training sessions or one-on-one guidance to staff on using digital tools and platforms, enhancing their digital literacy and comfort with technology.
  • Provide support for digital collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Trello), ensuring team members can effectively use these platforms for communication and project management.
  • Create and maintain user guides, FAQs, and other documentation to help staff troubleshoot common issues on their own.

User Support:

  • Assist staff with basic IT issues related to computers, printers, mobile devices, software applications and internet connectivity issues.
  • Provide support to colleagues in managing and updating content on the organization’s website, using Content Management Systems (CMS) like WordPress.
  • Provide support for issues related to email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp), including formatting, automation, and email deliverability problems. Help manage and troubleshoot contact lists, segmentation, and subscription issues.
  • Provide support for digital collaboration tools (e.g., Slack, Trello), ensuring team members can effectively use these platforms for communication and project management.

Job Requirements
Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Digital Marketing, Communications, Computer Science, Media Studies, Public Relations, or a related field. Additional certifications in digital marketing is a plus.
  • Certifications in digital marketing tools and platforms (e.g., Google Analytics, Hootsuite, HubSpot) are desirable.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in digital marketing or social media roles, with experience in providing ICT user support, preferably within the non-profit sector.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing successful digital campaigns, creating engaging content, and using analytics to drive strategy.
  • Experience with website management, SEO, and digital advertising.

Skills and Competence:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey information clearly and persuasively.
  • Able to diagnose and resolve common IT issues related to hardware, software, and connectivity.
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing strategies, including SEO, content marketing, and online advertising, and digital tools and platforms, including CMS and social media management tools.
  • Skilled in creating compelling content tailored to various digital platforms and audiences.
  • Proficient in managing and growing social media accounts, including scheduling, audience engagement, and analytics.
  • Expertise in using analytics tools to measure and interpret digital performance metrics.
  • Skilled in building and nurturing online communities and moderating discussions.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to a fast-paced and evolving digital landscape.

Remuneration
