Job Description

  • We are looking for an Electrical Shift In Charge Power Plant to join our team at Dangote Sugar Refinery Plc. As an Electrical Shift In Charge Power Plant, he/she will be accountable for the Operation & Maintenance of Power Plant.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Be proactive in identifying and reporting equipment faults and taking steps to resolve them.
  2. Perform all assigned tasks promptly and professionally.
  3. Take responsibility for overall plant operations during shift.
  4. Ensure that all activities in the plant are conducted safely and efficiently, following the approved standard operating procedures.
  5. Maintain and supervise all equipment in the plant to achieve the targeted power generation.
  6. Keep records of equipment failures and take necessary corrective actions.
  7. Plan and execute assigned jobs in the plant sections to ensure smooth operation.
  8. Maintain open communication with staff members regarding service-related matters.
  9. Report any electrical equipment complications to the Electrical in charge of the Power Plant.
  10. Manage and provide leadership to tradespeople during the shift.
  11. Ensure compliance with SOPs during operation and maintenance.
  12. Plan and execute the power plant maintenance program during the off-crop period.
  13. Identify training needs for subordinates and schedule regular training sessions accordingly.
  14. Maintain safety in all operational activities.

Job Requirements

  1. Applicants must possess at least a B-Tech/BE/BSc/HND in Electrical Engineering, along with a competency certificate.
  2. Preferred qualifications include a Certificate in Boiler Operating Engineers (BOE).
  3. Applicants should also have COREN, NSE, or any related professional qualification.
  4. Minimum 5 to 7 years of experience in any Power Plant is required. Experience in a Bagasse Based Power plant is an added advantage.
  5. Hands-on experience with Travelling Grate Boiler using Bagasse as Fuel is essential. The Boiler should have a minimum pressure rating of 87 bar.
  6. Experience in Back Pressure & Condensing Turbines, as well as in Fuel/Ash Handling System, is required.
  7. Applicants must be well-versed in Boiler/Turbine/HT & LT panels power distribution systems/DCS Automation Operation.
  8. Basic computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint are necessary.
