Job Position: Electrical Technician

Job Description

  • Carry out periodic preventive and corrective maintenance activities, ensuring that all electrical systems are operating in accordance with established procedures.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Participate in the installation of new appliances and machinery in the facility.
  2. Carry out routine preventive maintenance on all electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, appliances and fixtures in the facilities daily.
  3. Perform routine inspection on electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and ensure compliance with safety codes.
  4. Diagnose malfunctioning systems, locate the cause of a breakdown and carry out corrective maintenance on defective machines.
  5. Identify electrical equipment and appliances that could cause potential hazards and recommend for relocation or replacement.
  6. Prepare requisition list for electrical materials requirement for the approval of the Building Services Manager.
  7. Provide support during utility emergencies in the premises.
  8. Ensure good housekeeping and maintenance of electrical appliances and fittings in compliance with company’s HSE standards.
  9. Provide support during utility emergencies in the premises; Undertake duties as assigned or emergency tasks as directed by the Facility Manager.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of OND in Electrical Engineering / Diploma in relevant vocational training or successfully completed apprenticeship as an electrician.
  • Relevant Trade qualification will be an added advantage.
  • 3 – 5 years hands on experience.
  • Competency and Skills Requirements
  • Proven experience as an electrician
  • Experience in industrial and/or commercial electrical systems
  • Demonstrable ability to use electrical and hand tools (e.g. wire strippers, voltmeter etc.) and electrical drawings and blueprints
  • Thorough knowledge of safety procedures and legal regulations and guidelines
  • Excellent critical thinking and problem-solving ability
  • Excellent physical condition and flexibility to work long shifts and overnight.

  1. Very good customer service and people management skills.
  2. Good crisis/conflict management skills.
  3. Environmental awareness and pays attention to details.
  4. Must be able to manage multiple priorities and take initiative.
  5. Must be conversant with hazard spotting and emergency procedures.
