Job Description

  1. Flutterwave is looking for a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Lead to join our team and lead the development of our remittance product Send.
  2. As an Engineering Lead, you will play a crucial role in shaping the technical direction and execution of the product roadmap and will be responsible for leading a team of engineers to deliver high-quality and innovative solutions.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Lead and oversee the development of our remittance product, from feature ideation to implementation, ensuring that the product is delivered on time and with the highest quality standards.
  2. Develop and execute the technical strategy for the remittance product, including selecting the appropriate technologies, frameworks, and architecture, and providing technical guidance to the team to ensure the product is built efficiently and effectively.
  3. Build and lead a high-performing engineering team, including recruiting, mentoring, and providing technical guidance to team members. Foster a collaborative and inclusive work environment and promote continuous learning and improvement among team members.
  4. Drive product innovation by staying up to date with the latest industry trends, evaluating new technologies, and identifying opportunities to enhance the product’s features, performance, and user experience.
  5. Collaborate closely with other departments, including product management, design, and operations, to ensure seamless integration of the remittance product with other company initiatives, and to gather feedback to inform product enhancements.
  6. Implement best practices for software development, including code reviews, automated testing, and continuous integration and deployment, to ensure that the product is of the highest quality and meets established standards.

Job Requirement

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A master’s Degree is preferred.
  2. Minimum of 8 years of experience in software development, with a strong focus on backend development and experience in leading engineering teams.
  3. Proven expertise in designing and developing high-performance, scalable, and reliable applications using modern technologies and frameworks.
  4. Strong experience with technologies such as Java/C#, RESTful APIs, microservices architecture, and databases such as MySQL or MongoDB.
  5. Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate, mentor, and provide technical guidance to team members.
  6. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with changing priorities and requirements.
  7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams, stakeholders, and senior leadership.
  8. Knowledge of remittance and payment systems is highly desirable.
