Job Description
- Responsible to plan, co-ordinate and oversee the technical and engineering activities within Sygnite. Also responsible for planning engineering projects and overseeing the efficient running of projects, including providing supervision and guidance to other engineers.
- Proposing and managing budgets for all Engineering projects (Renewable Energy & Electrical Installations).
- Responsible for ensuring Sygnite values are present in operations employee/labour relations, and community involvement. Including fostering the right environment in the areas of safety, and ethical behavior.
- Alignment with functional partners e.g. human resources, finance etc. to drive performance and support Sygnite’s initiatives.
- Develops plans for efficient processes, drive continuous improvement in the business and develops solutions to achieve continuous improvement goals.
- Develop and implement detailed plans to ensure Engineering KPI targets are achieved. Leverage common processes, tools and systems including Sygnite Work System (SWS) principles and Lean principles.
- Championing Engineering and Operational excellence, establishing metrics and processes for regular assessment and improvement.
- Create development plans and training opportunities for employees to increase individual and team development.
- Consults with customers and industry representatives to evaluate and promote improved and expanded products and services.
- Supervising the work of multiple teams.
- Planning and executing strategies for completing projects on time.
- Leading research and development projects that produce new designs, products and processes.
- Checking team’s work for technical accuracy
- Ensuring the validity of methods used by team members.
- Working closely with dedicated HR staff to expand the team, including sourcing candidates, interviewing candidates, participating in conferences/events, and on-boarding new employees.
- Providing clear and concise instructions to engineering teams.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in any Engineering field. (Master’s Degree will be an added advantage)
- Professional certification in Engineering will also be an advantage.
- Experience with databases and project management software.
- Proven Supervisory and technical skills.
- Proven record of managing and growing teams, establishing systems and KPIs, and driving both revenue and profitability.
Skills and Experience Required:
- 5 – 7 years’ work experience in an engineering field and managing teams.
- Analytical skills for evaluating information carefully and solving complex problems. Applies a wide variety of analytical tools and processes (e.g. Six Sigma) on a regular basis to complete key projects and solve complex problems.
- Communication skills for overseeing direct reports and working with other management staff. This skill is important to effectively communicate instructions while leading the team to meet their goals.
- Assign responsibilities; delegates and empowers others; removes obstacles; allows for and contributes needed resources; coordinates work efforts when necessary; monitors progress.
- Detail-oriented for understanding complex systems and the ability to pay attention to details.
- Organizational skills for keeping track of various projects, budgets, employees and schedules simultaneously.
- Encourages and empowers others to achieve; establishes challenging performance standards; creates enthusiasm, a feeling of investment, and a desire to excel.
