In Nigeria, Breakthrough ACTION (Breakthrough ACTION Nigeria) focuses their SBC efforts on malaria; maternal, newborn, and child health, including nutrition (MNCHN); family planning / reproductive health; TB; priority zoonotic diseases; and the COVID-19 response. In addition, Breakthrough ACTION supports capacity strengthening of key stakeholders to design, implement, and evaluate SBC activities.

Job Position: Finance Assistant I

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Description

  • Support the Finance team with book keeping, archiving, payments and other regular finance functions.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Daily posting of financial transactions on QuickBooks.
  2. Review of state activity budgets and provide guidance to the state on budget lines and budget implementation.
  3. Support the assigned state(s) team with finance related field activities.
  4. Assist in the effective handling of office petty cash.
  5. Raise day-to-day payment vouchers of assigned state(s) as required.
  6. Ensure that all supporting documents are available and attached to the payment vouchers.
  7. Ensure all payment vouchers are serially numbered and stamped paid on time.
  8. Assist in the photocopying and scanning of monthly payment vouchers.
  9. Ensure proper filling and archival of finance documents for easy retrieval.
  10. Ensure travel and activity advances from the field offices are retired on time in line with organizational policy.
  11. Make payments to participants for meetings and workshops.
  12. Support the Senior Finance Officer in the submission of PAYE, NSITF and Withholding Tax remittances and cheques.
  13. Carry out other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

  • B.Sc. / HND in Accounting or Finance
  • 2- 3 years working experience with a donor funded project.
  • Experience in working with QuickBooks (or other relevant) accounting software and basic knowledge and understanding of accounting principles are desired.
  • Familiarity with USAID regulations is an added advantage.

  • Attention to details, team spirit, time management, hardworking, commitment to assigned duty.
