Job Position: Finance Intern

Job Location: Gbagada, Lagos

Job Description

  • This role reports to the Finance Manager. The incumbent will take charge of the day-to-day monitoring of transactions, reconciliation, settlements, and resolution of exceptions and disputed transactions.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Ensure daily processing of net settlement files of banks in line with SLA and industry standards.
  2. Liaise with counterparties – experience centers, supervisors, area coordinators, settlement partners in relation to daily transactions and settlements.
  3. Daily reconciliation of all balances and transactions on electronic settlements/payments accounts with correspondent banks to internal general ledgers and Agility platform
  4. Render daily and periodic reconciliation reports.
  5. Resolving variances and disputes identified from reconciliation
  6. Overseeing the use and maintenance of POS devices across all assigned centers
  7. Ensure that all relevant transactions are posted accurately from both an accounting and partner perspective.
  8. Ensure that failed settlement transactions are tracked and resolved daily
  9. Take ownership and respond to transaction issues, queries and other reconciliation and settlements escalations
  10. Investigate and effectively manage the resolution of disputed transactions in collaboration with relevant stakeholders
  11. Reimbursement and posting of center floats
  12. Review of expectations when not available and appropriate escalation
  13. Review of exceptions (items outstanding post reconciliation; that is a comparison of internal expectations with statements/settlement entries).
  14. Escalation of exceptions to the relevant stakeholders
  15. Preparation of monthly bank reconciliations for all banks, resolution and posting of all reconciling items into the accounting software
  16. Ensure no loss of funds. Detect and escalate any loss of funds to all stakeholders promptly.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  2. Experience in a settlement and reconciliation role in a regulated financial institution will be an added advantage.
  3. Strong numerical and analytical skills, and ability to work with large volumes of data
  4. Relevant professional certification will be an added advantage
  5. Attention to details, and understanding of reconciliation.
  6. Microsoft Excel skills
  7. Willingness to learn and take ownership

Remuneration
N75,000 (for the three months period of internship, followed by a review, subject to satisfactory performance).
