Job Description

  •  Responsible for the financial health of Cainergy. He/she produces financial reports and develops strategies for the short and medium-term plans for the company’s financial goals.

Job Responsibilities 

  1. Provides financial direction, planning and accounting to the business, covering short term financial goals. Liquidity & Treasury Management:
  2. Using appropriate forecasting tools, ensures that adequate measures are factored to achieve business objectives.
  3. Ensures that optimal liquidity is available to deliver business/project plan.
  4. Negotiates/arranges external finance, when necessary, viz Loans and Overdraft.
  5. Reviews working capital/cash flow requirement on a regular basis.
  6. Monitors banking activities for the Company for proper running and ensure regular reconciliations of all banking transactions with the cash books. Budgeting and Financial Forecast.
  7. Develops plans, budgets, forecasts and financial results to guide management decisions by forecasting requirements; analyzing variances and initiating corrective actions.
  8. Presents operating and capital expenditure budgets for review and approval. Financial Analysis & Interpretation.
  9. Monitors financial performance by measuring and analyzing results, initiating corrective actions; and minimizing the impact of variances.
  10. Responsible for presenting and reporting accurate and timely historical financial information of the Company and its other business concerns (Company and project sites).
  11. Oversee the coordination and activities of independent auditors (Internal and External Auditors).
  12. Manages relationships with regulatory and statutory bodies, i.e. NAICOM, FIRS, Abuja/ Lagos & Benin Internal Revenue Service, etc. Internal Control & Monitoring.
  13. Ensures adequate controls are installed and maintained to cover all financial transactions, including safeguarding financial assets.
  14. Possesses versatile ability to handle various business applications within the Company
  15. Control and monitor activities and personnel to achieve required performance.
  16. Oversees activities of the finance team (i.e. hires, coaches, appraises rewards, motivates, discipline, etc).

Job Requirements

  1. First Degree in Accounting, Finance Administration, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
  2. Professional accounting/finance e.g. ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CFA, ICAN
  3. An MBA or business-related postgraduate degree would be an added advantage.

Experience Required:

  • 10+ years of experience in finance, product control, and investment role with a major company or division of a large corporation. With at least 5 years in a management-level role.

Skills Required:

  1. Experience managing finance in companies in the oil and gas or construction or asset management experience would be an added advantage.
  2. Knowledge of audit and tax will be an added advantage.
  3. Experience managing a group of companies, with consolidation accounting experience.
  4. Experience in managing profitability and cost management, macroeconomic issues, and tax and regulatory policy.
  5. Experience using office computer programs like spreadsheets, databases, and word processing software.
  6. Knowledge of account and finance framework and principles • Knowledge of expected priority areas of focus for the government to improve the business environment.
