Job Position: Finance Manager

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description

We are looking for a dynamic and critical-thinking professional who can build develop and lead all finance efforts for the company to support our vision. The successful candidate will need to be an independent, high-achieving individual, able to provide tactical and strategic support in all aspects of our finances. This role will also involve managing our finance associates and accountants.

The Finance Manager will play a crucial role in overseeing the financial health of our delivery hub. This individual will be responsible for managing financial operations, developing budgets, monitoring financial performance, and providing strategic financial guidance to support business decisions.

You’ll work side by side with a tight-knit team of creative problem solvers. So, an ideal candidate will be solution-oriented and apply a high level of rigor and attention to detail to work. You should be able to multi-task and reprioritize workstreams according to rapidly changing developments and have a strong sense of ownership and responsibility. As the finance manager, you would be directly responsible for helping us define the best processes for our finances and also be the point person for anything finance-related.

This role is full-time. You will report directly to the CFO.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Manage the accounting associates in their accounting duties such as settlements, reconciliations, fraud analysis, and preparing the books.
  2. Ensure that monthly management reports are adequately prepared.
  3. Manage cash flow and ensure timely settlement to vendors and partners.
  4. Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards.
  5. Reconcile products against vendor statements to ensure coherence.
  6. Execute annual, monthly, and weekly reports on revenues, profits, and expenses for submission to other managers, stakeholders, and external analysts.
  7. Oversee all accounts and reporting systems ensuring they are compliant with regulatory requirements.
  8. Make sure internal controls are strong and other processes related to Finance & taxes are compliant (i.e. Federal, State, and other taxes).
  9. Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts and report variances
  10. Work with the company leaders to define financial projections.
  11. Lead ad-hoc programs and initiatives to provide financial advisory.
  12. Ensure reporting conformity with IFRS, GAAP, the company standards, Accounting procedures, and local statutory provisions (CAMA)
  13. Administer financing activities such as overdrafts, facilities, and other credit agreements.
  14. Oversee financial relationships with third-party entities.
  15. Manage the annual audit process for both countries and ensure the timely and satisfactory completion of audits in accordance with regulatory deadlines.
  16. Supervise financial partners to ensure the quality of received bank statements, thereby guaranteeing the use of complete and accurate banking information in the preparation of management reports.

Job Requirements

  1. have 6+ years of related finance(or finance-related) experience.
  2. have a Bachelor’s degree required; concentration in accounting or finance preferred have solid experience with financial analysis and forecasting, including experience with three statement financial modeling, preparing statistical reports and making recommendations based on analysis and research.
  3. have previously led a finance team before.
  4. have professional qualifications such as ICAN, ACCA, CFA, CPA, CIA or CISA.
  5. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office
  6. have strong priority management skills
  7. have strong oral and written communication skills
  8. have the ability to work and effectively communicate with senior-level business partners.
  9. Startup work experience is an add-on
  10. are intellectually honest.
  11. are not afraid to say your mind.

While this is NOT strictly required, it would be a plus if you:

  • Have previous experience in a Big Four, top-tier consulting firm, fintech, financial institution, e-commerce, OR Logistics company.
