Job Position: Flying Finance Manager

Job Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Responsibilities

  1. Implementing circuits and workflows (management of cash boxes, transfers, advances, purchase procedures, payment validations, follow up of regular payments, bank reconciliations) in order to anticipate expenses at project level and to optimize cash needs and its security.
  2. Implementing and supervising transactional procedures and systems in order to ensure transparent accounting practices and full traceability (invoices, receipts, bank statements, etc.), according to MSF guidelines and rules, and using the respective software in place.
  3. Ensuring the timely execution and control of the monthly and yearly accountancy closure, with due quality.
  4. In close collaboration with the Project Coordinator and the Finance Coordinator, defining, analysing and following-up the project budget, in order to ensure that funds are used according to funding contracts and proposing corrective action if needed.
  5. Ensuring financial reporting of the Project (Field financial software) monthly closure, sitreps, external donors, etc.)
  6. In close collaboration with the FINCO, following up all service contracts in project site (premise and vehicle rental contracts, deposits, rent payments, etc.) Ensuring that MSF staff who have financial responsibilities are aware of and comply with local finance procedures, including those related to security.

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

  1. Responsible for ensuring that the new Finance managers get proper onboarding training and mentoring to prepare them for their role.
  2. Covering Finance Manager gaps in the projects as interim Fin Manager.
  3. Support project Finance teams during peak seasons, opening and closures of project.
  4. Support to Finance team in Abuja.
  5. Training & Development Responsibilities:
  6. Organise and facilitate trainings for the finance teams in the projects and co-ordination
  7. Organise training / mentoring of new Finance Managers.
  8. Coach finance managers to ensure the proper implementation and respect of MSF policies and guidelines, ensuring they are aligned with legal requirements and within the national legal framework (including expense validation table, and advance table, WeFin (Budget/Forecast/Cash Request) roles in the project team , WeCheck, and analysis of different cost centres).

Job Requirements
Education:

  • Must possess a First Degree in Accounting, Finance, and Economics, Business Administration, or any related field with strong numerical/analytical background.
  • ICAN, ACCA, CFA, MSc, MBA certifications will be of added advantage

Experience:

  • Essential previous working experience of at least two years in relevant jobs.
  • Desirable experience in MSF or other NGOs in developing countries.

Languages:

  • English Language essential.
