Citibank Nigeria Limited (CNL) was incorporated in Nigeria on May 2, 1984 and the oldest international bank in the country. It provides a wide range of financial products and services to corporate and commercial customers, financial institutions and public sector organizations. It offers deposit and loan products, global transaction services, cash management, sales and trading, corporate finance and investment banking products.

The company was formerly known as Nigeria International Bank Ltd and changed its name to Citibank Nigeria in 2008. Today it employs about 300 people and operates 12 branches in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Warri, Kano, Bonny, Aba, Lanlate and Ososa. As at December 31, 2016, it had over NGN 600 billion in total assets. Citibank Nigeria is owned by Citibank Overseas Investment Corporation, a subsidiary of Citibank N.A. (USA).

Job Description

  1. Citibank Nigeria prepares the financial, management and strategy reports which provide the Franchise Management and Board with timely and accurate reports for decision making. The role of Financial Reporting is a critical function placed within Nigeria’s Finance department and reports directly to the Country Finance Officer (CFO) on all aspects of activities.
  2. The purpose of the role is to ensure: The financial, management and strategy reports are timely and of high quality; analytical insights on these reports are available to management for the purpose of decision making; that strong controls are applied and implemented during the process, and opportunities for process improvements are identified and implemented along the way.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Management Reporting (Monthly financial performance, adhoc reports).
  2. Coordination and preparation of quarterly business review.
  3. Preparation of quarterly competitive analysis report.
  4. Preparation of Statutory Financial statements of Citibank Nigeria and its subsidiary.
  5. Preparation of financial performance report, strategy updates and other deliverables for franchise Board and Committee Meetings.
  6. Preparation of the bank’s annual strategy and coordination of Board strategy sessions.
  7. Coordination of and preparation of deliverables required for Management Strategy sessions.
  8. Coordination of and preparation of deliverables for statutory audit.
  9. Coordination and preparation of deliverables for annual budget.
  10. Preparation of presentations during annual Shareholders engagement session.
  11. Preparation of reconciliation between regulatory and management reports.
  12. Provide necessary supports during the Citibank Nigeria Credit Ratings exercise.
  13. Provide necessary support during the CBN and NDIC audit and examinations.
  14. Computation of annual NDIC charge for Citibank Nigeria as well as providing supports required during the computation review by NDIC.
  15. Coordinate the Risk management practices and whistle blowing review by external auditor.
  16. Ensure compliance with all the requisite controls for financial reporting unit.

Job Requirements

  1. Minimum of 10 Years work experience in Finance;
  2. B.Sc Degree in Accounting / Finance Honours or related qualification
  3. Chartered accountant or equivalent
  4. Masters degree will be an added advantage.

Skills:

  1. Strong Experience in Bank’s Financial Reporting Environment.
  2. Strong understanding of IFRS and preparation of IFRS compliant financial statements.
  3. Working knowledge of related industry practices and standards
  4. Ability to work with multiple functions.
  5. Proven problem-solving skills.
  6. Consistently demonstrates clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Office with an emphasis on MS Excel and PowerPoint
  8. Strong interpersonal skills;
  9. Ability to manage and motivate a team of finance professionals;
  10. Good teamwork and project management skills;
