Job Position: Financial Accountant (OMAO)

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description

  1. This role is individually accountable for achieving results through others, over periods of 3 months to a year.
  2. The focus is the following: Execution of the business plan and for governance and compliance at an operational level, preparation of management reports, interpretation of financial data and predictive results.
  3. Implementation of accounting processes, systems and controls for a product.
  4. The role is also responsible for product profitability analysis, overall responsibility for the preparation & quality of financial accounts and maintenance of financial records.
  5. Responsible for the financial accounting/control function in the business unit.
  6. Carries overall responsibility for the preparation and quality of financial accounts and maintenance of financial records
  7. Contributes to and implements financial strategy.
  8. Assists in deciding on the financial and business viability of new and existing projects and programmes.
  9. Analyses financial records such as income trends.
  10. Responsible for preparation of all finance-related regulatory returns.
  11. Plans and prepares budgets and documents such as the annual report, according to organisational goals.
  12. Analyses and monitors the effect of budget or policy changes on business unit productivity.
  13. Responsible for audit liaison as well as tax, legislative & statutory requirements.

Job Responsibilities
Financial Control:

  1. Contributes to and implements financial strategy.
  2. Responsible for the business unit’s financial accounting/control function through other managers and their teams.
  3. Carries overall responsibility for the preparation and quality of financial accounts.

Financial Analysis:

  1. Analyses financial records such as income trends.
  2. Analyses and monitors the effect of budget or policy changes on the business unit’s productivity.
  3. Assists in deciding on the financial and business viability of new and existing projects and programmes.

Financial Reporting:

  1. Plans and prepares budgets and documents such as the annual report, according to organisational goals.

Governance & Compliance:

  1. Liaises with internal and external auditors.
  2. Ensures tax, legislative and statutory requirements are met.

Team Effectiveness:

  1. Individually accountable for staff time, tasks and output quality, over periods of up to 1 year.
  2. Balances own priorities with directing and motivating others.
  3. Guides and directs staff to achieve operational excellence standards.
  4. Creates a climate for optimal performance.
  5. Manages performance.
  6. Selects potential staff to sustain customer/client service delivery.

Job Requirements

  1. A First Degree or its equivalent in relevant field (Master’s Degree is an advantage).
  2. Bachelor of Science (B.Sc) (Required) .
  3. At least 10 years work experience (five of which must be at senior management level)
  4. Qualified Accountant (CPA, CA, ACA and ACCA) or any Accounting Professional qualification from recognised Professional Body.
  5. Relevant industry experience is required.
  6. Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  7. Strong analytical skills.
  8. Good Excel and PowerPoint skills.
