Job Description

  1. We are looking to hire an experienced Financial Controller to join our diverse team in our company – Nestoil Limited.
  2. In this role you will be responsible for ensuring accurate reporting and analysis of company’s financial transactions.
  3. You will also be responsible for effectively managing the company’s financial resources as well as recommending strategies for managing operational costs and maximizing profits.

Job Responsibilities
As a Financial Controller, your responsibilities are outlined below:

  1. Liaising with the Group CFO to develop/update and implement financial and accounting policies, procedures, and strategies across the Group
  2. Developing the company’s annual plans, budgets, forecasts, and financial performance metrics to guide business operations and strategy execution
  3. Establishing company-wide standards for system, data, and processes.
  4. Developing, updating, and guiding the implementation of finance SOPs across the group
  5. Designing and guiding the implementation of a sound accounting framework and compliance with tax and other statutory provisions
  6. Assisting in the development and maintenance of sound financial controls across the group’s operations
  7. Coordinating the proper capturing of financial transactions and consolidation of the company’s accounts from all business units and functions
  8. Preparing accurate, comprehensive, and timely financial and management information including tax, cash flow, management accounts and other statutory accounts
  9. Coordinating the preparation of the company’s financial reports
  10. Managing the statutory reporting process, including setting timetables and providing guidelines to operational finance teams across the Group. This includes supporting the year end Group accounts and annual review process
  11. Working with finance teams to ensure intra-group balances are regularly reconciled and variances fully investigated and resolved
  12. Maintaining ongoing liaison with relevant external bodies/contacts e.g. regulatory organizations, auditors, solicitors, banks etc.
  13. Preparing Letters of Credit for approval and forwards to the bank to facilitate the importation of products
  14. Overseeing the computation and remittance of taxes, payment of insurance premiums and other statutory fees
  15. Providing technical training, guidance and advise on financial accounting issues, developments, and trends
  16. Reviewing weekly reports submitted by various departments/functional units and presents timely reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
  17. Assisting the CFO in financial risk management and control
  18. Ensuring strict adherence to HSE policies and procedures and comply with safe work methods as required.
  19. Performing any other duty that may be assigned by Supervisor/line Manager.

Job Requirements
What are we looking for?

  1. First Degree in Finance / Accounting / Economics
  2. A postgraduate degree will be an added advantage
  3. Relevant professional qualification e.g. Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Association of Certified and Chartered Accountants (ACCA)
  4. A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years at management level.
  5. Experience in finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
  6. Sound knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
  7. Experience in financial management and ability to diagnose and solve complex financial problems
  8. Ability to analyze financial data and interpret financial reports, statements, and projections.
  9. Strong Integrity
  10. Competency in the use of automated financial accounting and reporting applications.
  11. Good knowledge of local and international financial regulatory standards.
  12. Intuitiveness and attention to detail
  13. Ability to communicate effectively
  14. Strong analytical and leadership skills.
