MKOBO is a fully licensed Microfinance bank by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) in Lagos, Nigeria. MKOBO was conceived to help solve consumers’ need for access to short-term emergency credit. Our goal is to provide access to short term unsecured loans, which is easily accessible. We cater to the demography currently undeserved by the Commercial banks in our aim to help increase financial inclusion of the Nigerian population.

Job Position: Full Stack Engineer

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description

  1. As a Full Stack Engineer you will be working alongside the product teams to build scalable APIs. It is the perfect opportunity for someone who is experienced and passionate about scalable systems, clean code and is looking for a great fulltime role.
  2. While we currently build our systems in python, java, and any other compelling technology language, We believe the language is merely a tool in solving the problem, and we’re open to Engineers with experience of other stacks like NodeJS, Javascript with the flexibility to learn any language to solve any problem.
  3. Design, build, and maintain scalable Backend/Frontend systems.
  4. DevOps: improve automation of the software development process.
  5. Identify performance issues and bugs, and provide solutions to these problems.
  6. Work with other team members to ensure we are building the right product
  7. Participate in code reviews
  8. Pair-program with other developers or discuss possible technical architectures
  9. Contribute to creating a culture of writing excellent software

Job Requirements
What we are looking for:

  1. University Degree in Informational Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related subject.
  2. Advanced experience with Backend/Frontend frameworks such as java, python [preferably] or similar like NodeJS, javascript
  3. Mid to senior level Fullstack engineer experience
  4. At least 3 years commercial experience
  5. Excellent knowledge of Scalable and distributed architectures.
  6. Excellent knowledge of SQL (MySQL/PostgreSQL)
  7. Experience with NoSQL (MongoDB/CouchDB/ElasticSearch/cassandra)
  8. Understanding of Code versioning tools like Git
  9. Understanding of Unit and Integration testing.
  10. Understanding of DevOps processes like CI/CD
  11. Understanding of infrastructure as code(Docker, kubernates, openshift is an added advantage)
  12. Knowledge of CSS is an advantage
  13. Application security, encryption, hashing.
  14. Good understanding of APIs
  15. Knowledge of in-memory database is an added advantage
  16. Superb organisational skills and attention to detail
  17. Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision

Good to have skills:

  1. Knowledge of SQL (MySQL/PostgreSQL)
  2. Good understanding of APIs
  3. Understanding of DevOps processes like CI/CD
  4. Knowledge of CSS is an advantage

Must have skills:

  1. Java script
