Job Position: Head, Account / Financial Controller
Location: Lagos
Job Summary
- The Head of Accounts / Financial Controller will be responsible for managing all financial and accounting functions within the dental clinic.
- This includes overseeing billing processes, insurance claims, cash flow management, budgeting, financial reporting, tax compliance, and supporting the clinic’s growth with strategic financial insight.
- The ideal candidate should have strong healthcare or clinic experience and demonstrate sound knowledge of dental finance operations.
Job Responsibilities
- Supervise all accounting operations, including patient billing, insurance claims, vendor payments, payroll, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure accuracy in dental service revenue recognition and oversee proper tracking of receivables.
- Generate and present timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports to management.
- Manage budget planning and control expenditures to align with the clinic’s financial goals.
- Oversee cash flow planning and ensure availability of funds for operational needs.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws, NHIS, HMO remittances, and other statutory obligations.
- Monitor and reconcile inventory usage for dental consumables and supplies in collaboration with procurement.
- Establish and maintain internal control policies to safeguard assets and prevent financial irregularities.
- Coordinate internal and external audits and resolve audit queries efficiently.
- Work closely with operations and clinical management to support data-driven decision-making.
- Manage and mentor a small team of accounting or finance officers.
Qualifications and Experience
- B.Sc. or HND in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification, such as ACA, ACCA, or CPA, is required.
- Minimum of 5 – 7 years’ experience in accounting or finance, preferably within a healthcare or clinic setting.
- Strong understanding of healthcare billing systems, HMO/NHIS processes, and insurance claim management.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
- Knowledge of dental management systems (like Dentrix or Open Dental) is an advantage.
- Experience in managing clinic budgets, service pricing, and vendor reconciliation.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
