Job Position: Head of Finance

Job Responsibilities

  1. Head of Finance responsibilities include creating forecasting models, assessing risk in company activities and ensuring all accounting activities comply with regulations and are up to date.
  2. To be successful in this role, you should have experience crafting financial strategies and managing accounting teams.
  3. To be successful as a head of finance, you should demonstrate excellent leadership qualities and experience in modeling financial strategies, especially during a raise.
  4. Ultimately, a competent Head of Finance should maintain the finances of the organization effectively and increase profitability.
  5. Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and reporting.
  6. Provide financial guidance and support to other departments.
  7. Ensure the company’s financial goals and objectives are achieved.

  11. Ensure statutory compliance and timely filing of tax returns- VAT, CIT, NHF, PAYE e.t.c.
  12. Process tax clearance certificates, Withholding Tax reconciliation and utilization reporting.
  13. Gather and monitor financial data like sales revenues and liabilities
  14. Ensure daily posting of all necessary ledgers of account accordingly
  15. Preparation of weekly, monthly financial reports.
  16. Managing office cash and updating transfer payments with supporting documents.
  17. Assist with the preparation of annual budgets for the company and also collate/monitor departmental budgets
  18. Invoice preparation and receipts generation
  19. Reconciling and balancing all financial records
  20. Disbursing funds necessary for office operations e.g., transport and office supplies
  21. Track and confirm payments from customers and any other bank activity.
  22. Create well detailed financial reports for management and audit purposes
  23. Monitor and report on any account discrepancies
  24. Conduct a detailed risk analysis to assess potential investment opportunities and advise management on risks
  25. Perform month-end and year-end close processes.
  26. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements.
  27. Ensure timely and accurate reporting of accounting information system to strengthen efficiency.
  28. Perform an internal audit to substantiate financial statements and transactions.
  29. Comply with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field; MBA preferred.
  2. Proven work experience as a Head of Finance, Director of Finance, or similar role
  3. Minimum of 7 years of experience in finance or accounting, with at least 4 years in a leadership role
  4. Strong knowledge of financial management, financial planning, accounting, and tax
  5. Proven track record of driving financial growth and profitability in a complex organization.
  6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  7. ACA is an added advantage.
  8. Hands-on experience with budgeting and risk management
  9. Experience with creating financial statements.
  10. Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end / year-end close process
  11. Experience in researching as it relates to accounting issues.
  12. Experience with accounting software is a must.
  13. Excellent technical knowledge of budgeting, cash management, financial statements and financial analysis processes.
  14. Knowledgeable of Treasury management processes
  15. Proven ability to analyze complex business issues and identify, design and implement effective practical recommendations.
  16. ERP – SAP Knowledge an added advantage.
  17. Advanced excel skills are a must.
