Pastel Africa is a venture backed, Silicon Valley and Lagos-based startup digitizing small businesses across Africa. Our three co-founders graduated from Stanford University and are building digital tools to address pain points of small businesses across Africa, starting from Nigeria.

There are over 450 million small businesses across Africa, with 40 million in Nigeria alone. Even though small businesses make up the bulk of the continent’s economy, they are extremely underserved, with pain points ranging from manual and inefficient processes to lack of access to capital. Since launching in September 2021, we have built multiple mobile-based apps to help over 120k small businesses manage their bookkeeping, generate invoices and provide receipts. The next step along our journey is to provide financial services to these businesses. Our team believes in product led growth and are dedicated to providing the best platform for small businesses across Africa to manage their day to day activities.

Job Position: Head of Partnerships

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • You will be responsible for planning, securing, and executing partnerships with banks, telecommunication companies, and other FinTechs, taking our brand presence to the next level.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Work closely with our CEO to identify, develop, and secure strategic partnerships with current and potential partners and large enterprises – including Banks and FinTechs.
  2. Conduct market research to determine our target audience’s needs, wants, habits, interests and other relevant factors in identifying potential partnerships.
  3. Develop collaboration plans for key partners, and develop product adoption and customer success plans.
  4. Rigorously measure, report, and review success of partnerships in driving revenue
  5. Take overall responsibility for managing the strategic relationship (communications, expectations).
  6. Work with our partners and internal teams (customer support, marketing, product, and engineering) to get our partnerships off the ground.
  7. Understand the relative strength of competitors within strategic partners, if any.

Job Requirements

  • 5+ years of business development experience, 3+ years of partnership experience in a bank or FinTech
  • Strong connections to Banks, FinTechs, Telcos and other large enterprises across the continent
  • Proven record of building successful partnership relationships that drive real results
  • Passionate about technology and business strategy
  • Clear communicator with an ability to inspire internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to successfully and efficiently manage a wide variety of relationships
  • History of driving revenue and managing projects in a high-growth, rapidly evolving organization
  • Thoughtful and creative, with a strong do-it approach

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some familiarity with use cases of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning
