Babban Gona Agricultural Franchise is a financially sustainable, high impact and highly scalable social enterprise, which is part-owned by the farmers it serves. Babban Gona is an innovative model designed to serve the bottom of the pyramid and transform agriculture into a job-creation engine. Through this agricultural franchise, Babban Gona offers a suite of services to smallholder farmers, helping them to overcome the challenges of fragmentation and low economies of scale.

Job Position: Head of Technology

Job Location: Lagos

Job Responsibilities
Strategy Development:

  • Develop and continuously iterate the organizations technology development road map by liaising with key operational leaders to identify gaps and propose best in class solutions. Examples would include leveraging AI enabled drone systems to autonomously assess at risk farmer fields.
  • Leading engagement with the larger technology community to provide thought leadership that strengthens Babban Gona’s position as an innovator and leader in high impact technology development.

Technology Operations:

  1. Lead all technology operations including but not limited to Engineering, Product Innovation, Data Science, Security & Infrastructure and Business Intelligence.
  2. Develop and lead a collaborative and agile software development approach that improves velocity, while maintaining a strong focus on both quality and scalability.
  3. Direct the design, planning, implementation, and maintenance of the computing infrastructure that supports the company’s operations and business applications.
  4. Establish metrics for managing effectiveness of technology deployed and for measuring the impact of technology on the business.
  5. Establish a comprehensive enterprise information security program to ensure the integrity, confidentiality and availability of relevant data.
  6. Identify emerging technology trends and ensure the company is leveraging them when appropriate to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and drive value.
  7. Establish and enforce technology policies, processes, portfolio management, development standards and methodologies.
  8. Prepare and monitor technology operational budgets that meet prevailing objectives and constraints.
  9. Ensure that the organization has strong systems analysis and project management skills, and the ability to execute business-critical projects within agreed deadlines.
  10. Develop and execute an analytics program that will allow company business leaders to make data-based decisions.

Leadership and Team Development:

  • Build, develop, evaluate and retain a highly-qualified team of 50 technology professionals.
  • Create a culture of innovation, transparency and accountability in the technology team.
  • Develop and maintain a plan that provides for succession and continuity in the most critical technology management positions.

Job Requirements
Work Experience

  • M.Sc / PhD in computer science, Electrical and Computer Engineering or any other relevant field is a plus
  • 10 years technical experience developing technology products with 4 years managerial experience
  • Strong domain knowledge on product management and data.
  • Understanding of the Agri Tech offerings and opportunities is a plus.
