Job Position: HR Manager in Retail Business
Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Responsibilities
Performance Management:

  1. Design and implement a robust performance evaluation system for office and site staff, aligning key performance indicators (KPIs) with project milestones.
  2. Conduct quarterly performance reviews with department heads to identify training needs and high-potential employees.
  3. Lead 360-degree feedback processes for managerial staff and implement improvement plans.
  4. Manage performance improvement plans (PIPs) for underperforming staff with measurable benchmarks.

Benefits Administration:

  1. Oversee competitive compensation structuring, including site allowances and hazard pay for field staff.
  2. Administer employee benefits programs (HMO, pension, leave bonuses, and project completion incentives).
  3. Liaise with insurance providers to negotiate annual benefit renewals and ensure the cost-effectiveness of these renewals.
  4. Implement employee recognition schemes (e.g., “Site Safety Champion” awards).

Strategic HR Leadership:

  1. Develop and implement HR policies aligned with business objectives and labour laws.
  2. Lead talent acquisition for technical and non-technical roles in a fast-paced construction environment.

Workforce Optimisation:

  1. Oversee performance management, including KPIs for site and office staff.
  2. Design training programs to enhance skills (safety compliance, leadership, etc.).

Employee Relations & Compliance:

  1. Manage industrial relations, ensuring harmony between management and unions.
  2. Ensure 100% compliance with the Nigerian Labour Act, pension regulations, and HSE standards.

HR Operations:

  1. Streamline payroll processing and benefits administration.
  2. Maintain meticulous employee records and HR analytics.

Ideal Candidate Profile
Must-Have Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Admin, or related field.
  2. 5+ years as HR Manager (construction/engineering sector preferred).
  3. CIPM /SPHRi Certification is mandatory
  4. Expertise in Nigerian labour laws and union negotiations.
  5. Proficient in HR software (Sage, BambooHR, etc.).

Preferred Skills:

  1. Experience managing expatriate quotas and site workforce.
