Job Position: Human Resource Business Partner – Financial Services

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description

  1. As the HR Business Partner, your overall objective is to serve as a strategic partner and provide effective HR operational services to the bank.
  2. You will partner with team leads, managers, and staff to support the delivery of business’ organizational objectives and outcomes.
  3. The HRBP will serve as a focal point on all HR-related matters, including performance management, capacity building and talent development, and employee relations.

Job Responsibilities
HR Business Partnering:

  1. Partner with business units to integrate people strategies with overall organizational strategy.
  2. Provide day-to-day performance management guidance to line management (e.g., coaching, counseling, career development, disciplinary actions).
  3. Provide HR consulting services to all business functions as it relates to human resources programs and policies, often encompassing all areas of human resources.
  4. Provide policy guidance and interpretation; recommend and implement changes as needed.

Recruitment and Onboarding:

  1. Collaborate with the central talent team to fulfil talent requirement of the business unit.
  2. Coordinate and ensure that all pre-onboarding tasks are effectively executed with little or no blockers to employee induction.
  3. Collaborate with multiple stakeholders to ensure that employee welcome packs and documentation are ready before onsite /remote onboarding commences.

Capacity Building and Talent Development:

  1. Implement the Organizational learning strategies and programs. Translate the business/function strategy into long, medium, and short-term people plans, which consider the organization’s leadership, capability, cultural, and structural development needs.
  2. Evaluate individual and organizational development needs and lead, implement, and manage staff development initiatives. Work with the Senior HRBP to deploy different kinds of learning methods to the organization, such as coaching٫ job-shadowing٫ online training, and so on.
  3. Organize e-learning courses, workshops, and other training. Utilize the LMS (Learning Management System) capacity to provide training and development opportunities to global staff.

Employee Relations:

  1. Manage and resolve complex employee relations issues. Conduct effective, thorough and objective investigations.
  2. Work closely with management and employees to improve work relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.
  3. Consult with employees and management on employee relations issues providing guidance and assistance with policy interpretation, open and direct communication, conflict resolution, performance management, and conduct-related issues.
  4. Be involved in employee disciplinary and grievance management processes.

Regulatory Compliance/Audit Management:

  1. Ensure HR practices comply with local, state, and federal regulations specific to the banking industry.
  2. Maintain in-depth knowledge of labor law requirements related to day-to-day management of employees, reducing legal risks and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  3. Prepare for and support internal and external audits related to HR functions.
  4. Ensure accurate documentation and record-keeping to meet audit requirements.
  5. Address audit findings and implement corrective actions as needed.

Payroll Management:

  1. Work with the Chief People Officer and Senior HRBP to interpret and translate the compensation philosophy and pay strategies.
  2. Maintain payroll processing system and records by gathering, calculating, and inputting data.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, or related field.
  2. Minimum of 7 years of experience in HR Operations, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership position preferably in the banking sector
  3. Proficient in HRIS and other HR- related software.
  4. Great understanding of regulatory compliance in a banking system
  5. Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines, including compensation practices, organizational diagnosis, employee relations, diversity, performance management, and multi-country employment laws.
  6. Prior experience working and applying HR principles in a system environment with prior experience developing, maintaining, and improving processes to achieve greater efficiencies and performance.
  7. Extensive knowledge of HR process, procedures, and policies
  8. Strong facilitation and communication skills.
  9. Personable, able to deal with a variety of people comfortably and pleasantly.
  10. Good understanding of employment related tax procedures.
