Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) is Nigeria’s leading private sector think-tank dedicated to achieving sustainable economic development through private sector-led initiatives. Convener of the annual Nigerian Economic Summit (NES) since 1993, as a platform for bringing together private sector leaders and senior public sector officials to discuss and dialogue on the future of the Nigerian economy.

In 1993, a group of passionate and concerned private sector leaders representing key economic sectors conceived the Nigerian Economic Summit (NES) and sustained it as a platform for bringing together private sector leaders and senior public sector officials to discuss and dialogue on the future of the Nigerian Economy. Three years later, in 1996, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) was established and incorporated as a non-profit, non-partisan private sector organisation with a mandate to promote and champion the reform of the Nigerian economy into an open, private sector-led globally competitive economy.

Job Position: Human Resources Business Partner

Job Description

  1. As the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) at the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG), you will play a critical role in synchronizing our HR strategy with the organization’s overarching goals.
  2. Your primary focus will be on managing and supporting our extensive network of volunteers across various policy commissions and thematic groups.
  3. You will serve as a key advisor on HR matters, utilizing trend analysis and metrics to devise effective solutions, programs, and policies. Your responsibilities will also include managing complex HR projects, understanding the Group’s financial stance, future plans, organizational culture, and competitive landscape.

Job Responsibilities
Strategic HR Partnership:

  1. Provide strategic HR partnership and coaching to management and leaders of NESG’s various policy commissions and thematic groups.
  2. Develop and implement HR strategies that support NESG’s strategic and business objectives, with a focus on volunteer management.

Volunteer Management:

  1. Oversee the entire lifecycle of volunteer management, including recruitment, onboarding, development, and retention.
  2. Manage and resolve complex volunteer relations issues.
  3. Develop and implement a performance evaluation policy for volunteers.
  4. Create and execute strategies for volunteer engagement, recognition, and motivation.
  5. Analyse trends and metrics in partnership with the HR group to develop solutions, programs, and policies tailored for volunteers.

Organizational Development:

  1. Provide HR policy guidance and interpretation to support the objectives of NESG’s policy commissions and thematic groups.
  2. Facilitate organizational changes and improvements within volunteer-driven initiatives.

Training and Development:

  1. Identify training needs and opportunities for volunteers to enhance their effectiveness within NESG.
  2. Participate in the evaluation and monitoring of training programs, ensuring they meet the needs of volunteers and align with organizational goals.

Employee and Volunteer Relations:

  1. Manage and resolve complex employee and volunteer relations issues.
  2. Conduct effective, thorough, and objective investigations geared towards the improvement of our volunteer Management System.

Compliance and Reporting:

  1. Ensure compliance with regulatory concerns and reporting requirements.
  2. Work closely with management, employees, and volunteers to improve relationships, build morale, and increase productivity and retention.

Collaboration and Communication:

  1. Provide guidance and input on organizational restructuring, workforce planning, and succession planning.
  2. Collaborate with other HR team members to share knowledge and best practices, focusing on volunteer management.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Policy, or related field.
  2. Proven experience as an HR business partner with a focus on volunteer management.
  3. Excellent people management skills, particularly in a volunteer context.
  4. Analytical and goal-oriented.
  5. Demonstrable experience with HR metrics.
  6. Thorough knowledge of labour legislation.
  7. Full understanding of all HR functions and best practices, with emphasis on volunteer management.
  8. Master’s degree in HR or related field (preferred).
  9. Relevant industry experience (minimum 5 years), including experience in volunteer management.
  10. HR certification (e.g., SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP) (preferred).
