Job Description

  1. These strategic locations have allowed NRC greater reach from the north and south parts of the North-East and North Central region and allowed NRC to contribute to bridging the gap between humanitarian aid and development cooperation, including by focusing on equitable access to basic services and strengthening the rights of displaced people and returnees. In addition to the Country Office and the above-mentioned Area Offices, NRC has sub-office structures in Dikwa, Monguno, Biu, Mubi, Pulka, and Gwoza.

  3. If you are those people, the Norwegian Refugee Council in Nigeria is looking for an enthusiastic and passionate HR & Administration Team Lead to join our team in Jos, Plateau State.

Job Responsibilities
Role and responsibilities:

  • The purpose of the HR Team Leader position is day to day implementation of the HR support and administrative functions and responsibilities in Yola Area Office.

Generic responsibilities:

  1. These responsibilities shall be the same for all positions with the same title. The responsibilities shall be short and essential. Details belong in the Work and Development plan.
  2. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks and guidelines
  3. Implement delegated support function portfolio according to the plan of action
  4. Prepare and develop status reports as required by management
  5. Ensure proper filing of documents
  6. Promote and share ideas for improvement of the support function
  7. Ensure development and implementation of administrative systems and procedures
  8. Ensure adherence to NRC policies and the national labour law in all processes and procedures

Specific responsibilities:

  1. Supervise the HR/Admin team at the area office level; responsible for individual meetings, development, and review of the team performance
  2. Ensure that staff records in all field offices in the area are up to date and filed appropriately in the HR personnel file archive
  3. Responsible for implementation of HR policies and procedures
  4. Responsible for managing the NRC people Solution at the Area Level
  5. Ensure that all recruitments at the area level are followed up from start till finish
  6. Support hiring manager with new staff orientation and induction process.
  7. Coordinate the team’s daily work tasks, improving processes and developing the team
  8. Support staff with the tools & procedures for performance management
  9. Oversee all administrative responsibilities accommodation booking, facility management, utilities, store management, etc.
  10. Take the lead in vacancy announcements and longlisting of requested positions according to the approved organogram
  11. Advice in personnel conflicts/processes when relevant
  12. Coordinate staff recruitment and exits, introductions, training, staff benefits schemes etc.
  13. Coordinate with relevant partners, suppliers, and authorities
  14. Any other duty assigned.

Critical interfaces:
By interfaces, NRC means processes and projects that are interlinked with other departments/units or persons. Relevant interfaces for this position are:

  1. AM, Programme Unit, Support Unit at area level
  2. HR Manager and Coordinator at the country level
  3. Area Support Coordinator
  4. Field coordinator and HR/Admin focal persons
  5. Staff representatives at the area level

Job Requirements

  1. University Degree in Human Resources / Business Management or relevant field knowledge
  2. Three (3) years experience working as an HR or Admin, from an Officer level and in a humanitarian/recovery context
  3. Previous experience working in complex and volatile contexts.
  4. Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  5. Knowledge about own leadership skills/profile
  6. Fluency in English, both written and verbal
  7. Good knowledge of the Nigerian Labor Law.
