Job Position: Human Resources Manager

Job Location: Ikeja, Lagos

Job Description

  1. We’re looking for an experienced Human Resources Manager who is passionate about our mission of driving financial inclusion in Africa.
  2. This role is based in Lagos and our ideal candidate should have excellent communication, organization and management abilities, including the ability to work and function in a multicultural environment and should have experience working in the mobile payments industry to join the local team and provide intuitive and excellent leadership for the HR department.
  3. You will be fit for this role if you can evaluate and analyze complex information and you have a natural desire to organize and manage people; and if you can take charge of coordinating an organization’s administration system and general workflows, supervising staff, facilitating communication throughout a company and developing procedures to make a workplace more efficient.

  Job Responsibilities

  1. Manage the staffing process, including recruiting, interviewing, hiring and onboarding
  2. Ensure job descriptions are up to date and compliant with all local, state and federal regulations
  3. Develop training materials and performance management programs to help ensure employees understand their job responsibilities
  4. Create a compensation strategy for all employees based on market research and pay surveys; keeps the strategy up to date
  5. Investigate employee issues and conflicts and bring them to resolution
  6. Ensure the organization’s compliance with local, state and federal regulations
  7. Use performance management tools to provide guidance and feedback to the team
  8. Ensure all company HR policies are applied consistently
  9. Maintain company organization charts and employee directory
  10. Partner with management to ensure strategic HR goals are aligned with business initiatives
  11. Maintain HR systems and processes
  12. Conduct performance and salary reviews
  13. Provide support and guidance to HR staff
  14. Analyze trends in compensation and benefits
  15. Design and implement employee retention strategies

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher academic degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field
  • 5-8 years’ experience in a HR Managerial position within an organisation with a large workforce
  • Experience in a Fintech/ Financial institution
  • Strong HR Experience.
  • HR Knowledge: A thorough knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices is essential to ensure legal compliance and effective HR management.

  1. Strategic Thinking: The HR Manager should have the ability to align HR practices with the overall strategic goals of our organization. They need to think long-term and understand how HR can contribute to the company’s success.
  2. Leadership: The HR Manager will lead a team of HR professionals, so strong leadership skills are essential for managing and motivating staff.
  3. Communication: Effective communication is critical, as the HR Manager needs to convey information clearly, listen actively, and interact with employees, management, and external stakeholders.
  4. Conflict Resolution: The HR Manager must be skilled in resolving workplace conflicts and disputes, often acting as mediators between employees or between employees and management.
  5. Manpower planning: Analyzing the current manpower inventory, making future manpower forecasts, developing employment and training programmes. A solid understanding of hiring practices and talent acquisition, talent and performance management is necessary. The HR Manager is responsible for hiring the right people for our organization.
  6. Employee Relations: Managing employee relations, including handling grievances, conducting investigations, and promoting a positive work environment, is a key responsibility.
  7. Legal Compliance: Knowledge of labor laws and regulations is crucial to ensure the organization complies with local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  8. Performance Management: The HR Manager is responsible for designing and implementing our performance management systems, including performance appraisals, feedback, and goal setting.
  9. Training and Development: Identifying training needs and designing programs for employee development is important for enhancing workforce skills and productivity.
  10. Compensation and Benefits: Understanding compensation structures and benefits administration, including health insurance and retirement plans, is critical to attract and retain top talent.
  11. Change Management: Our HR Manager will play a role in managing organizational change, helping employees adapt to new processes and structures.
  12. Data Analysis: The HR Manager should possess analytical skills to make data-driven decisions, track key metrics, and assess the impact of HR initiatives.
  13. Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with HR software and technology tools for payroll, HRIS (Human Resource Information Systems), and recruitment is essential.
  14. Problem Solving: The HR Manager needs to be adept at solving complex problems, both in day-to-day HR operations and in addressing broader organizational challenges.
  15. Cultural Awareness and Inclusivity: The HR Manager should be culturally aware and sensitive to promoting diversity and inclusion.
