Job Description
- The Head of Human Resources will oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes, supporting business needs and ensuring the proper implementation of company strategy and objectives.
- The role involves strategic workforce planning, enhancing employee performance, supporting employee development, and maintaining HR compliance.
- The Head of HR will be pivotal in driving cultural change, promoting organizational values, and aligning the workforce with the strategic goals of the company.
Job Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the overall business strategy.
- Bridge management and employee relations by addressing demands, grievances, or other issues.
- Manage the recruitment and selection process to attract and retain top-tier talent.
Performance & Talent Management:
- Oversee and manage a performance appraisal system that drives high performance.
- Support current and future business needs through the development, engagement, and motivation of human capital.
- Nurture a positive working environment and a culture of feedback and continuous improvement.
Learning & Development:
- Assess training needs to apply and monitor training programs.
- Ensure talent management is effective for all staff across all aspects of the business.
Policy & Compliance:
- Develop and monitor overall HR strategies, systems, tactics, and procedures across the organization.
- Oversee and manage a pay plan and benefits program.
- Ensure legal compliance throughout human resource management.
Corporate Culture & Ethics:
- Reinforce a corporate culture that reflects the company’s values and mission, promoting integrity and fairness across all operations.
- Lead initiatives to enhance organizational culture, ensuring that all HR practices support the ethos of transparency, integrity, and accountability.
- Address and manage the need for staff restructuring and renewal to align with strategic objectives and cultural alignment.
Essential Criteria for Success:
- Integrity and Fairness: The candidate must have an impeccable record of high integrity and the ability to approach all situations and decisions without bias.
- Strategic HR Leadership: Ability to develop and implement HR strategies that align with our overall business strategy is crucial.
- Experience with Cultural Transformation: Experience leading cultural change initiatives to reinforce corporate culture and align it with business goals.
- Proven Track Record in Talent Management: Demonstrated ability to manage talent, including recruitment, retention, and development of a high-performance workforce.
- Strong Regulatory Compliance: In-depth understanding of labor law and compliance in a multi-regional context (experience in Nigeria and Kenya would be a plus).
Job Requirements
- Proven working experience as HR manager or other HR executive.
- High integrity and ability to approach all situations and decisions without bias.
- People-oriented and results-driven.
- Demonstrable experience with HR metrics.
- Knowledge of HR systems and databases.
- Ability to architect strategy along with leadership skills.
- Excellent active listening, negotiation, and presentation skills.
- Competence to build and effectively manage interpersonal relationships at all levels of the company.
- In-depth knowledge of labor law and HR best practices.
- Degree in Human Resources or related field; Master’s degree
- Years of Experience: Minimum of 10 years in human resources with at least 5 years in a senior management role.
- Industry Background: Experience in the retail, hospitality, or food and beverage industry is preferre
- Company Preferences: We prefer candidates from companies known for their robust HR practices and strong corporate culture and have no issues with hiring from any firm whatsoever.
