Job Position: Intern, Research & Learning
Location: Kano
Duration: 6 Months

Purpose of the Internship

The purpose of this internship program is to promote employability through providing an opportunity for work experience to recent graduates and university students in career transition.

It is also an avenue to help develop leadership competencies and promote the participation of women in decision-making roles in key development spaces.

Job Responsibilities

The intern will initiate /assist/report/monitor and develop the following initiatives, and the planning of regular meetings, as well as facilitate knowledge exchange. S/he will be able to reconcile theoretical experiences with practicable processes with keen specifics to the following: The intern will be expected to handle:

  1. Support the coordination and follow-up on departmental workstreams, milestones, and project reporting timelines.
  2. Assist in the development of periodic research reports, briefs, and departmental documentation.
  3. Provide technical and editorial support for ongoing publication efforts, including abstracts, manuscripts, and knowledge products.
  4. Support the Senior Research Program Manager in coordinating departmental activities and tracking progress across active research projects.
  5. Assist in the preparation of periodic reports, meeting minutes, and documentation of key decisions.
  6. Contribute to the drafting, formatting, and referencing of manuscripts, abstracts, and other research publications.
  7. Support data cleaning, organisation, and visualisation for reports and knowledge products.
  8. Maintain the Research & Learning repository, trackers, and internal databases.
  9. Liaise with cross-functional teams (Grants, Programs, IT, and Communications) to ensure timely submission of inputs for reports and proposals.
  10. Assist in compiling evidence and learning summaries for donor reporting and departmental compendiums.
  11. Perform any other task assigned by the head of the department or line manager.

Standard Minimum Qualifications

  1. Only qualified female candidates are eligible to apply.
  2. First Degree or equivalent in the relevant field of study.
  3. Additional consideration will be given to any professional experience relevant to the function you’re applying for.
  4. At least 1 to 2 years of experience in the relevant field
  5. NYSC Certificate of completion/Exemption/Exclusion is compulsory.

Skills to be developed:

  1. The intern will develop a strong knowledge of public health, project and program management, digital health, vaccine-preventable diseases, etc.
  2. The intern will gain exposure to real-world project and program management processes and concerns
  3. The intern will gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies
  4. The intern will develop better report-writing skills in the communication context to both technical and non-technical audiences
