Job Position: Internal Control Officer
Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Summary

The Internal Control Officer will be responsible for assessing, monitoring, and improving internal control systems and reporting to Head Risk Management. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 3–4 years of relevant work experience and must have previously worked in an audit firm or Internal audit in any organisation. This role involves conducting risk assessments, identifying control gaps, and ensuring that operational procedures align with internal policies and regulatory standards.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Evaluate and test internal control systems across departments.
  2. Identify control gaps, recommend improvements, and monitor remediation.
  3. Conduct regular audits and surprise checks to ensure compliance with policies.
  4. Review financial transactions and processes to prevent fraud and errors.
  5. Document internal control findings and prepare audit reports.
  6. Collaborate with management to develop and update policies and procedures.
  7. Monitor adherence to regulatory standards and suggest necessary adjustments.
  8. Conduct training on internal control measures and compliance awareness.
  9. Investigate irregularities and escalate issues when necessary.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  2. Registered student or member of ICAN/ACCA/ANAN/CFA/CFE/CISA
  3. 3–4 years of proven work experience in internal control, internal audit, or risk management.
  4. Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal control frameworks.
  5. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  6. High level of integrity and professional ethics.
  7. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, etc.).
  8. Good communication and report-writing skills.
  9. Added advantage: Previous experience working in an audit firm.
