Job Position: Inventory Accountant

Job Location: Ilupeju, Lagos

Job Description

  • The successful candidate will work with the Chief Financial Officer to establish procedures and quality standards and to monitor all aspects of Inventory Management

Task Complexities:

  1. Design and implement an inventory tracking system to optimize inventory control procedures.
  2. Examine the levels of supplies and raw materials to determine shortages.
  3. Document daily deliveries and movement of raw materials to update inventory.
  4. Prepare weekly detailed reports on inventory operations, stock levels and adjustments.
  5. Evaluate new inventory to ensure it is ready for movement.
  6. Perform daily analysis to predict potential inventory problems.
  7. Advise Management on the order of new supplies to avoid inefficiencies or excessive surplus.
  8. Analyze weekly material usage variances on material Analysis against/ Production request and raise red flags to Chief Financial Controller for further action.
  9. Review and resolve issues with inventory transfer orders from Store to production.
  10. Provide inventory support and guidance to the Organisation as needed.
  11. Match Material analysis template with Production request and resolve discrepancies. Ensure procedures are documented and updated regularly. Assist in collection and preparation of documentation requested for monthly audits by the Chief Financial Officer.
  12. Perform additional responsibilities within the department as assigned.
  13. Handle non-routine inventory transactions (write up / write down).
  14. Assist with the execution and/or supervision of inventory existence procedures (wall-to-wall physical inventories and/or cycle count procedures) for IO Furniture Ltd.
  15. Assist with the preparation of monthly budget vs actuals variance analysis and check if reports made related to the inventory count is correct so as to avoid any kind of fraud.
  16. Ensure that the entire inventory is stacked properly and arranged in an organized manner so that zero wastage occurs and none of the items is spoilt, destroyed or damaged in any way.
  17. Monitor all the transactions related to inventory and keep himself/herself updated about materials which have been used or the items that have to be stocked for future use.
  18. Develop and determine the inventory accounting methods and also analyse the inventory related reports so as to find the possible flaws in inventory storage, transportation, costing etc.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business (Accounting Concentration preferred) or equivalent
  • 2 years experience working as an Inventory Accountant with an integrated ERP system.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications and ERP system experience
