Inventory Specialist at Medbury Pharmaceuticals

Job Position: Inventory Specialist (Operations and Warehousing)
Location: Lagos

Job Responsibilities
Maintain Accurate Inventory Records and Perform Regular Audits:

1. Track, document, and update all inventory movements using inventory management systems to ensure real-time accuracy.
2. Maintain detailed records of stock levels, batch numbers, expiration dates, and storage conditions, particularly for sensitive medical supplies and pharmaceuticals.
3. Conduct regular cycle counts, physical inventory checks, and reconciliation exercises to identify and correct discrepancies.
4. Prepare audit reports and collaborate with finance and compliance teams during internal and external inventory audits.

Oversee Warehouse Operations:

1. Manage day-to-day operations of the warehouse, ensuring timely receiving, proper labelling, secure storage, and efficient dispatch of medical supplies.
2. Supervise loading and unloading activities, verify delivery notes and invoices, and inspect goods for quantity, quality, and damage.
3. Ensure optimal space utilisation in the warehouse by organising inventory based on product type, demand frequency, and safety requirements.
4. Monitor warehouse staff performance, provide training, and ensure adherence to operating procedures.

Implement Inventory Control Procedures:

1. Develop and enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) for inventory handling, stock rotation (FIFO/FEFO), returns, and disposals.
2. Monitor inventory turnover and identify slow-moving or obsolete stock to reduce waste and maximise storage capacity.
3. Introduce barcoding, RFID tagging, or other digital tools to improve inventory tracking and accuracy.
4. Implement loss prevention strategies, including restricted access zones, surveillance, and audit trails for high-value or controlled items.

Collaborate with Supply Chain and Procurement Teams:

1. Work closely with the procurement and supply planning teams to align inventory levels with demand forecasts and order cycles.
2. Provide real-time inventory reports to support purchasing decisions and avoid overstocking or stock-outs.
3. Participate in demand planning meetings to provide insights on inventory trends, consumption rates, and replenishment needs.

Ensure Adherence to Health and Safety Regulations:

1. Enforce compliance with all relevant health and safety guidelines for medical storage, including temperature control, shelf life, and contamination prevention.
2. Ensure hazardous materials and sterile products are stored and handled according to regulatory standards.
3. Conduct routine checks to identify and rectify potential safety risks in the warehouse or storage areas.

Inventory Reporting and Analysis

1. Generate regular inventory status reports for management, highlighting key metrics such as stock levels, expiry timelines, and consumption rates.
2. Recommend adjustments to reorder points, minimum/maximum stock levels, and safety stock thresholds based on demand variability.

Returns and Disposal Management:

1. Coordinate the return of damaged, expired, or excess stock to suppliers or appropriate disposal channels.
2. Ensure proper documentation and regulatory compliance in the disposal of medical or pharmaceutical waste.
3. Maintain logs of returned items and track trends to prevent repeat occurrences.

System and Process Improvements:

1. Evaluate existing inventory systems and recommend upgrades or enhancements for better performance.
2. Support the implementation of new inventory technologies and train relevant staff.
3. Identify opportunities to automate routine tasks and improve inventory process efficiency.

Requirements
