Job Description

  1. Preferably based in Abuja but also open to applicants in Lagos, you will be responsible for supporting the shaping, building and executing the conference content on events in our energy portfolio.
  2. This is a crucial time for Nigeria’s energy industry as it rapidly adapts and evolves to achieve energy security while on its journey to meet net-zero ambitions as part of the energy transition.
  3. Dmg Nigeria events is committed to playing a key role in bringing together the major stakeholders to meet these critical goals.
  4. This role is key to the success of the growth and development of our business. It’s heavily focussed on year-round content and the programme development.
  5. Working alongside commercial, marketing, PR, data & digital, operations teams, you will report directly to the Country Manager working on a number of major international large-scale, small-scale and new business launches.
  6. The Junior Conference Producer’s responsibility is to support on the deliver all aspects of the conference lifecycle, including; content development, speaker management, and managing relationships within the industry.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Development and management of new and existing relationships with relevant market stakeholders, including industry leaders, partner organisations, vendors, and the media
  2. Programme research and development
  3. Speaker acquisition
  4. Managing speakers, both pre-event and onsite. Including creating and sharing speaker briefing notes, collating presentations, and updating programmes.
  5. Leadership to ensure onsite delivery is executed with excellence and speaker and attendee/sponsor relationships are strengthened
  6. Continual assessment of regional and global market dynamics to identify opportunities for the development of conference content offerings

Other Responsibilities
Conference Production:

  1. Liaising with Conference Chair/s and Governing Body members
  2. Organising and supporting Governing body meetings to determine conferences themes, topics, session chairs and speakers
  3. Conducting telephone and in-person research with potential attendees in the target market to develop programme agendas
  4. Joining SPEX calls and meetings with existing and potential clients
  5. Ensuring that the conference agenda is at the highest level of commercial viability for both sponsorship and delegate sales
  6. Recruiting highly-esteemed leading experts, industry representatives, regulators, government representatives and other relevant speakers to your programme faculty
  7. Researching and providing strategic information required to market and sell conferences to the marketing and sales functions including: detailed information on the target market both in terms of sector and geographic markets, relevant industry associations and publications, competitive events
  8. Attending conferences to promote the conference, gather market intelligence and to network with potential speakers and delegates to establish and maintain relationships pre and post conference

Conference Project Management:

  1. Maintaining close links with management to ensure that they are kept up to date with the status of events
  2. Preparing and sending weekly/monthly reports as appropriate
  3. Working closely with the operations team to ensure delivery of first-class on-site conference experience for attendees
  4. Travelling to conferences to ensure successful, high-quality delivery of customer services and the event experience to delegates, as well as speaker liaison to ensure all speaker preparation and requirements are taken care of and that the faculty feel welcome.

Job Requirements

  1. You will be passionate, dedicated and knowledgeable about developing smart, profitable and industry-leading conferences and have proven comprehensive experience of applying efficient and effective processes to your own successful conference portfolio
  2. You will demonstrate the ability to simultaneously manage a portfolio of international event products
  3. You will show how you are able to create leading-edge marketing and sales campaigns
  4. Excellent networking and information gathering abilities
  5. Engaging, professional and diplomatic demeanour
  6. Comfortable conducting regular phone calls and meetings with industry figures
  7. Strong teamwork skills to ensure the efficient running of the event team
  8. Self-disciplined and able to work both independently and as part of a team
  9. Problem solver with the ability to break down complex concepts, make logical comparisons and identify underlying patterns and connections
  10. Agile learner with the ability to develop in-depth technical knowledge on diverse topics and an understanding of key commercial drivers underlying your products
  11. Resilient, with a strong desire to achieve
  12. Foreign language skills is desirable (Spanish, French, Portuguese)
  13. International travel is a requirement of the job.
