Job Position: Legal and Compliance Officer

Job Description

  • As a Legal and Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring that the company adheres to legal standards and regulations, developing compliance policies, and providing legal guidance to mitigate risks.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Contract Management: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with clients and partners.
  2. Safeguarding Interests: Protecting the company’s intellectual property and ensuring legal protection.
  3. Compliance Oversight: Develop, implement, and oversee compliance policies, procedures, and systems to ensure adherence to relevant laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  4. Legal Guidance: Provide legal advice and support to management on legal matters, contracts, regulatory issues, and compliance requirements.
  5. Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments and audits to identify potential compliance issues and areas of vulnerability. And minimizing legal risks that could impact the company.
  6. Training and Education: Develop and conduct training programs to educate employees on compliance standards and legal obligations.
  7. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate records and documentation related to compliance activities. Prepare reports for management and regulatory bodies as required.
  8. Investigations and Remediation: Investigate compliance breaches or concerns and recommend corrective actions or remediation plans.
  9. Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders and external legal counsel to address legal and compliance issues effectively.

Job Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Law, Business Administration, or related field; Juris Doctor (JD) degree is preferred.
  2. Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in legal and compliance roles, preferably within the consulting, technology and/or learning & development industry.
  3. In-depth knowledge of laws, regulations, and compliance standards relevant to our industry.
  4. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
  6. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  7. Problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to identifying and mitigating risks.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  1. Compliance Adherence: Level of compliance with laws, regulations, and internal policies.
  2. Audit Findings: Outcomes of compliance audits and risk assessments.
  3. Training Effectiveness: Effectiveness of compliance training programs through employee feedback and comprehension assessments.
  4. Incident Response: Effective handling and resolution of compliance incidents or breaches.
  5. Documentation Accuracy: Accuracy and completeness of compliance-related documentation and reports.
  6. Legal Issues Management: Efficiency in resolving legal matters. And quality and appropriateness of legal advice provided to management.
  7. Stakeholder Satisfaction: Stakeholder satisfaction with legal and compliance support provided.
  8. Contract Cycle Time: Time taken to complete the contract negotiation process and documentations.
  9. Intellectual Property Protection: Effectiveness of strategies to safeguard company assets.
