Job Position: Legal Associate

Job Location: Lagos, Nigeria

Job Description

  1. Responsible for the definition of structure and execution of strategic initiatives through the development of work plans, gathering and generation of relevant data, driving analyses, and the development of actionable recommendations
  2. Participate in the development, preparation and review of MAX’s policies, strategies and plans, liaising with internal and external stakeholders as instructed by the Legal Counsel
  3. Undertake research projects to evaluate MAX’s performance in the industry
  4. Present facts, intelligence and insights for decision-making at department level
  5. Develop and/or contribute to succinct, timely, informative and accurate briefings, papers and corporate reporting requirements
  6. Work with the C-level Executives & the Legal Counsel to setup and maintain quality control systems to further improve management system, process documentation, etc
  7. Work with cross functional teams to produce periodic/external/statutory reports
  8. Proactive in suggesting areas for improvement in internal processes along with possible solutions
  9. Ensure all physical and electronic business records are stored and maintained in recordkeeping system
  10. Ensure tasks undertaken adhere to all policies and procedures
  11. Undertake other duties as directed by the executives team and the Legal Counsel
  12. Prepare project briefs and manage projects within time and budget in accordance established procedures
  13. Undertake independent research projects that require analysis of secondary data or desk research

Job Requirements

  • LL.B Degree ( mimimum of 2nd Class Upper) Licensed to practice law in Nigeria
  • 3 or more years transactional experience from a reputable commercial law firm
  • Strong communication(written and oral) skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skill
  • Proficient in G-Suite
  • Excellent presentation skills with confidence to serve as the company’s spokesperson
  • Ability to manage and juggle multiple priorities and projects
  • Critical thinking skills
  • Accuracy and Attention to detail
  • Strong Research Abilities
  • Ability to set-up and implement quality control systems
  • Ability to source and analyse both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Experience in preparing a range of different style written products (including Briefs, project briefs, factsheets, full reports, summary reports)
