Job Position: Legal Manager
Location: Victoria Island, Lagos

Role Overview

The Legal Manager will provide expert legal and regulatory support to the organisation, focusing on finance-related transactions, corporate governance, and compliance.

The role requires a detail-oriented professional with strong technical expertise, analytical skills, and the ability to partner with cross-functional teams to manage risks, ensure compliance, and support business growth.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Provide legal advisory support on financial transactions, lending structures, and investment arrangements.
  2. Interpret and advise on relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards affecting corporate finance, governance, and compliance.
  3. Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of contracts, including financing agreements, service-level agreements, and governance policies.
  4. Monitor and ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory obligations across the business.
  5. Develop, implement, and maintain corporate governance and compliance frameworks, policies, and awareness programs.
  6. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify, assess, and manage legal and regulatory risks.
  7. Support internal audits, investigations, and regulatory inquiries as required.
  8. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laws, regulatory changes, and emerging trends relevant to the company’s operations.
  9. Liaise with external counsel, regulators, and third parties to represent the company’s legal interests.
  10. Support the GM, Legal & Compliance in strategic initiatives and departmental deliverables.
  11. Engage in policy advocacy by analysing regulatory developments, drafting position papers, and representing the organisation at industry forums, consultations, and legislative processes.

Required Skills & Competencies

  1. Qualification: LL.B, BL (Master’s degree is an added advantage)
  2. Experience Required: Minimum 9 years post-call legal experience, including at least 6 years in finance-related transactions, corporate governance, and compliance.
  3. Strong legal drafting and writing skills.
  4. Excellent analytical, technical, and problem-solving abilities.
  5. Proven experience in corporate governance and compliance management.
  6. Professional, interpersonal, and communication skills to effectively engage stakeholders.
  7. Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Salary
Salary: N700,000 – N900,000 monthly (Competitive / Negotiable).
