Job Position: Mechanical Engineer

Job Location: Lagos

Job Description

  • To design mechanical installations, prepare workshop and as-built drawings, as well as operational and maintenance manuals.

Job Responsibilities
In addition to being able to perform the duties of a Level 2 and 3 Mechanical Engineer, he/she can carry out the following:

  1. Excellent interface with building contractor and other sub-contractors on site.
  2. Report changes, variations, and site instructions to the operation manager.
  3. Carry out planning for procurement and raise procurement requests to the P&L department.
  4. Good supervision of site workers and supervisors to achieve the work plan.
  5. Good assigning of tasks to site employees.
  6. Read drawings, set out systems, and interpret drawings to workers.
  7. Manage the site supervisors.
  8. Prepare material technical submittals.
  9. Prepare technical and progress reports.
  10. Attend meetings (technical & coordination) and issue minutes.
  11. Prepare shop drawings.
  12. Prepare the project work schedule.

Other Responsibilities

  1. Drive conformance with health & safety rules within your teams.
  2. Perform work safely to protect yourself and others from harm.
  3. Follow health and safety procedures, including wearing personal protective equipment, obeying safety signs, and safely using work tools.
  4. Do not tamper with or misuse safety equipment, devices, or any other company property.
  5. Report any identified defects and potential hazards in the workplace.
  6. Inform your Supervisor/HSE Representatives/HSE Officer or QHSE Manager of any observed workplace injury, illness, and incidents.
  7. Be familiar with the company’s emergency and evacuation procedures and the location of emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, first aid kit, etc.) to take appropriate action in the event of an emergency.
  8. Participate in incident investigation (if required).
  9. Promote the organization’s positive health and safety culture.

  3. Good working knowledge of engineering drawing and measurements
  4. Excellent working knowledge of plumbing and fire systems standards & codes
  5. Excellent working knowledge of plumbing and fire system installation principles
  6. Excellent knowledge of project management principles and practices
