Job Position: Pastry Chef
Location: Lagos
Job Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to restaurant standards.
- Ensure dishes are plated attractively and served at the right temperature.
- Create daily or weekly pastry specials based on company standards. Assist in preparing special orders for events or customer requests.
- Maintain consistent quality, flavour, and texture of all pastries served.
- Ensure presentation meets restaurant standards for aesthetics.
- Participate in creating new pastry items for restaurant menus. Update and maintain pastry recipe cards.
- Collaborate with the Head Chef to balance creativity with cost control.
- Monitor stock levels for pastry ingredients and request replenishment as needed. Properly label, date, and store ingredients.
- Reduce wastage through proper planning and portion control. Maintain a clean and organised pastry workstation at all times.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and storage standards (HACCP or internal policy).
- Ensure proper sanitation of tools, equipment, and work surfaces.
- Coordinate with the main kitchen during service to ensure timely delivery of desserts.
- Train assistants or support staff assigned to the pastry section.
- Communicate any menu changes or challenges to the Head Chef.
