Job Position: PHP / WordPress Developer

Job Description

  • We are looking for an experienced and passionate WordPress Developer to join our Product & Engineering team!
  • We seek a WordPress Developer with a passion for finding solutions that allow customers to use our products intuitively.
  • The ideal candidate plays an important role during all stages of product development.
  • They must be skilled at translating the goal of the product into a functional user experience and nurturing that experience as the product matures through different stages of the product life cycle.
  • As a WordPress Developer at AltSchool Africa, you will be responsible for both back-end and front-end development, including creating WordPress themes and plugins.
  • The expectation is that you are inquisitive with a growth mindset, and have a strong understanding of the latest industry trends and content management systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and implement new product features and functionality.
  • Establish and guide the website’s architecture.
  • Manage all technical aspects of the CMS ensuring high-performance
  • Formulate an effective, responsive design’ turning it into a working theme and plugin.
  • Conduct thorough testing and debugging of themes and plugins to ensure optimal performance and compatibility.

Job Requirements

  • 3+ years experience as a PHP/Wordpress developer
  • Strong understanding of PHP back-end development.
  • Good understanding of front-end technologies, including PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, jQuery.
  • Experience building user interfaces for websites and/or web applications.
  • Experience designing and developing responsive design websites.
  • Understanding of code versioning tools {{such as Git, SVN, and Mercurial}}
  • Comfortable working with debugging tools.
  • Ability to understand CSS changes and their ramifications to ensure consistent style across platforms and browsers.
  • Ability to convert comprehensive layouts and wireframes into working HTML pages
  • Knowledge of how to interact with RESTful APIs and formats (JSON, XML).
