Job Description

  2. Platform builds products for the engineering community at Safeguard Global. The Principal Platform Engineer is responsible for focusing on the challenge of how to make our community of engineers more productive, being able to develop faster while also deploying securely and with confidence.
  3. Your main responsibility as the Principal Platform Engineer is to partner with engineering team members across the organization, to define and incrementally improve a clearly defined set of objectives and key results, and to excel in achieving those outcomes.
  4. The Platform teams ensures that internal as well as external engineers have support in the complete development lifecycle and find opportunities to become T-shaped and learn neighboring fields.   8. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting high performing agile teams, developing and scaling distributed systems, growing evolutionary architecture, going monolith to microservice, and developing platforms that integrate with 3rd party systems.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Advance the values of the organization (caring, accountability, integrity, empowerment, passion, fun)
  2. Gather and analyze metrics to assist in performance tuning and fault finding
  3. Partner with DEV & QA teams to improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures
  4. Participate in system design consulting, platform management and capacity planning
  5. Create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts
  6. Balance feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives
  7. Integrate platform security related processes in all workflows

Skills / Attributes:

  • 10+ years relevant experience
  • Expert technical skills, an ability to operate up and down the stack
  • Ability to partner with other skilled engineers to achieve greater outcomes together
  • Experience with Cloud Technology, Cloud Native Patterns
  • Experience with Test Automation, Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery
  • Experience with Continuous Improvement, Lean Software Development practices
  • Experience with Monolith to Microservice patterns
  • Experience with event-driven architectures including event sourcing
  • Experience developing external facing APIs, API Frameworks, 3rd party developer support
  • Experience with ETL/ELT.
