Job Position: Pre-Shipment Officer – Export

Job Location: Apapa, Lagos

Job Description

  1. Are you a detail-oriented individual with experience in the cement industry? Dangote Cement Plc. is currently seeking a friendly and dedicated Pre-Shipment Officer – Export to join our team.
  2. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring smooth and efficient pre-shipment processes for our export operations.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Provide support to the Logistics Officer in managing key operations decisions, adherence to shipping activities, safety guidelines quality requirements, etc.
  2. Support in scheduling, DCP’s cement export shipments in compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and procedures.
  3. Obtain relevant information on planned shipments and update shipping schedules.
  4. Ensure compliance of the Freight Forwarding processes with DCP rules and regulations.
  5. Ensure that all safety requirements such as certifications, identifications, etc. are fully complied with as per DCP requirements and regulations.
  6. Ensure the good administration and filing of all the Freight Forwarding documents in line with the DCP procedures.
  7. Coordinate shipment logistics from Nigerian origin to across other African nations to deliver under the guidance of Nigerian Law/regulations and in compliance with the DCP rule.
  8. Liaise with Export Terminal Logistics, Border, and DCP plant personnel to ensure efficient operations.
  9. Liaise with the banks and government-appointed shipment inspection agents on every shipment for appropriate duty payment of shipping charges classification in conformance with the statutory requirement.
  10. Liaise effectively with government agencies (e. g NAFDAC, Customs, NPA) to secure relevant permits and approvals.
  11. Ensure appropriate and correct shipping documents are obtained from logistics, freight forwarders, government-appointed pre-shipment inspection agents, etc.
  12. Ensure that all export activities and shipping documentation are transacted and updated.
  13. Ensure key performance indicators are reported and followed up. Prepare periodic shipping activity reports in line with DCP rules.
  14. Check Customs tariff positions and interpret government fiscal policies & amendments.
  15. Ensure adequate record keeping of customs documents, notices, government regulatory documents, and documentation of other third parties.
  16. Ensure timely payment of NESS fees and
  17. Ensure NESS receipts are forwarded to Inspection agents for the generation of CCIs.
  18. Follow up with authorities (Customs/ONSA) in case of delays in approvals.

Job Requirements
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  • 5 to 9 years of experience in export operations, preferably in the cement industry.

Skills and Behaviours:

  1. Knowledgeable on INCOTERMS, laws, and regulations applicable to Freight Forwarding and importation
  2. Good understanding of trends, challenges, opportunities, regulations, and legislations relating to the cement manufacturing industry.
  3. Sound knowledge of DCP’s product and service offerings.
  4. Working knowledge of inventory management terminologies, methodologies, and approach
  5. Basic knowledge of system-based inventory management systems
  6. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  7. Excellent oral and written communication skills
  8. Attention to detail and quality
  9. Willingness to learn, improve and adapt to changing requirements.
  10. Working knowledge of relevant supporting tools and technologies such as MS Excel, Project Management applications, etc.
  11. Membership of relevant professional bodies in the Supply Chain and Operational functions will be an added advantage
  12. Knowledge across all the disciplines of Supply Chain Management will be an added advantage.
