Job Position: Process Operator – Packaging

Job Location: Port Harcourt Brewery, Rivers

Job Description

  1. The key purpose of this role is to safely operate and maintain defined Packaging equipment and process areas which have a bigger business impact wrt cost and consumer quality) and related process in order to achieve optimal effectiveness

Job Responsibilities

Operating and Process Control:

  1. Operating equipment in Packaging  process areas according to VPO standards
  2. Constantly reviewing process performance against target, and recording short stops and correcting any out of controls using the VPO tools
  3. Recording waste and movement of product on the appropriate documentation or information systems. Review trends to identify & resolve problems

Maintenance of Plant and Equipment:

  1. Carrying out autonomous operations as defined for the process areas.
  2. Identify defective plant, and report these through to the Process Artisan or Team Leader to assist with resolution.
  3. Assisting the Process Artisan/Machine specialist in executing running repairs on shift.

Quality Control and Analysis:

  1. Carrying out the required quality checks and analyses, and recording the results on the appropriate information system.
  2. The list of quality checks to be executed is contained in the work instructions.
  3. react to the results using the VPO tools supplied

Communication:

  1. Actively participate in shift meetings, asking questions to test understanding and contributing suggestions. Making use of the action logs to record issues, problems and improvement opportunities.
  2. Fully understand the team Dream and contribute in achieving it.
  3. Make use of relevant communication media (e.g. shift logbook) to stay informed and inform others of issues.
  4. Complete required hand over to incoming shift team members, ensuring the issues relating to plant performance, quality and maintenance are communicated.

Problem Solving:

  1. Where problems occur, use the VPO problem solving tools to resolve and record the issues.

Other Responsibilities
Operating equipment and manage associated processes & performance in Brewing:

  1. Ensure and maintain a safe and healthy work environment .
  2. Interpret and implement production plan for shift.
  3. Operate manual and automatic machines on line as per standards
  4. Monitor production processes on shift and correct any negative trends
  5. Ensure process quality and productivity.

Perform Administration:

  1. Complete associated tracking and monitoring: Complete operator workstation administration and take action as required.
  2. Complete Team room administration as required
  3. Contribute to self-development:
  4. Participate in 1-on-1’s
  5. SKAP managed
  6. Participate in Team communication
  7. Assist in coaching and sharing of knowledge

Problem Solving:

  1. Manage PIMS & POMS and take corrective action on negative trends
  2. Use QFR’s (As per triggers)
  3. Complete 5 WHY’s (As per triggers) with relevant team members
  4. Contribute towards AB reports as required

Job Requirements
Education:

  • Relevant Technical Qualification / Diploma
  • 9 months on the job training, SKAP completed.

Experience:

  1. Experience within a Brewing FMCG industry.

  1. Prepared to work shifts.
  2. The main role is to apply core competencies to achieve optimum plant and process performance.
  3. Manage a process area according to VPO principles and standards
  4. A logical, analytical problem solver who can operate in an unstructured environment.
