Job Position: Procurement & Logistics Manager
Location: Lagos-Ibadan Express Road, Lagos

Job Description

  1. Experienced Procurement professional responsible for leading Procurement and Sourcing.
  2. Expected to deliver value through the implementation of effective negotiation strategies that reduce both organisational costs and risks while improving vendor performance and encouraging innovation from the supply base.
  3. The position of Procurement & Logistic Manager consists of planning, directing, and coordinating the activities of contracting and buying of materials, products, services and other supplies
  4. The Procurement & Logistic Manager is expected to deliver on time and reduce the Total Cost of Procurement. Procurement Manager responsibilities include strategizing to find cost-effective deals and suppliers. The Procurement Manager must discover the best ways to cut procurement expenses, so that the company can invest in growth and people.

Job Responsibilities

  1. In the start-up phase, strongly support the building team with negotiations, contract writing.
  2. Finding competitive suppliers and initiating procurement partnerships
  3. Negotiating with external vendors to secure advantageous terms and finalise purchase details of orders and deliveries
  4. Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  5. Collaborate with key persons to ensure clarity of the specifications and expectations of the company
  6. Foresee alterations in the comparative negotiating ability of suppliers and clients
  7. Predict unfavourable events through analysis of data and prepare control strategies
  8. Perform risk management for supply contracts and agreements
  9. Control spending and build a culture of long-term saving on procurement costs
  10. Develop a yearly business plan for Purchasing based on operational guidelines and company goals, and review it on an ongoing basis.
  11. Lead employees within the department to achieve individual goals.
  12. Manage the vendor evaluation process, with an effective vendor evaluation schedule and disciplined follow-up of vendor status criteria.
  13. Negotiate pricing and terms with all vendors, and set guidelines so that the internal team has a clear understanding of purchasing parameters and processes as negotiated.
  14. Reduce lead time and inventory while satisfying customers’ requirements through accurate inventory/usage logistic data analysis and effective vendor stock solutions.
  15. Continuously assess opportunities and implement actions defined by management to improve supplier performance.
  16. ​Constant generation of ideas to improve inventory turns on purchased materials, with a focus on standardized components.

Requirements

  1. Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Procurement Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering or any related/relevant discipline.
  2. Excellent communication skills, influencing skills, analytical skills
  3. Hands-on experience in handling supply contracts at both local, regional and global levels
  4. Mastering contractual terminologies and implementation, Logistics and supply chain should be mandatory.
  5. Detail-oriented in his/her work
  6. Self-driven
  7. Leadership skills and fast thinker.

Level Of Experience:

  1. Minimum of 5 years in Procurement Management and Logistics is a requirement.
  2. Experience in the Manufacturing industry is an added advantage.
  3. Proven working experience as a Procurement Manager, Head of Procurement or Supply Chain.
  4. Strong Executive Presence.
  5. Strong ability to influence others.
  6. Strong ability to work independently.
  7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; Attention to detail.
  8. Effective listening and customer service skills.
  9. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment and prioritise own workload
  10. Ability to build strong internal relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  11. Ability to lead cross-functional teams in the accomplishment of company goals.
  12. Ability to be creative and innovative in finding solutions and negotiating strategies.
  13. Evidence of an ability to work cross-functionally with colleagues across multiple groups and departments, including IT, Risk, Finance, Production, Maintenance, and Executive Management.
  14. Having a good command of the international incoterms, logistics challenges and mitigation planning measures related.
  15. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  16. Excellent negotiation.

  18. Ability to communicate with a diverse audience at various levels and all countries and cultures within the organization.
