Job Position: Procurement Officer
Location: Lagos

Job Description 

In this role, your primary function is to ensure that items in their assigned categories are sourced to meet the needs of the business from the point of view of cost, quality, and availability.

Job Responsibilities

  1. Use sales data analysis, insight, and multiple inputs to create order patterns for assigned items, maximising availability and minimising waste.
  2. Execute purchases, including issuing Purchase Orders.
  3. Build an overview of other categories and the business as a whole to provide back-up for other team members.
  4. Represent assigned categories to the sales team and respond to ad-hoc queries and requests.
  5. Research potential products, vendors, and services, and compare prices and quality to ensure the best deal.
  6. Meet with vendors and clients to negotiate the best contracts.
  7. Liaise with the inventory team to ensure goods are received on time.
  8. Monitor inventory and write orders to refill stock.
  9. Inspect purchased products upon delivery and report any issues timely manner.
  10. Update all records of purchased products.
  11. Write reports on purchases made and perform cost analysis.
  12. Negotiate contract terms of agreement and pricing.
  13. Enter order details (e.g. vendors, quantities, prices) into internal databases.
  14. Maintain updated records of purchased products, delivery information and invoices.
  15. Monitor stock levels and place orders as needed
  16. Coordinate with inventory officers to ensure proper storage
  17. Perform other duties as assigned

Competency and Skill Requirements
Technical Skills:

  1. Experience in the use of ERP systems, Excel, and other relevant analytics tools.
  2. Hands-on experience with purchasing software.
  3. Good knowledge of vendor sourcing practices (researching, evaluating and liaising with vendors)
  4. Knowledge of purchasing methods and procedures, purchasing sources, prices, market factors, product characteristics, and reporting procedures.
  5. Understanding of supply chain procedures

Soft Skills:

  1. Solid analytical skills, with the ability to create financial reports and conduct cost analyses
  2. Negotiation skills
  3. Sound research and networking skills.
  4. Written, verbal, and interpersonal skills.
