Job Position: Program Associate – Nigeria Strengthening Civic Advocacy and Local Engagement (SCALE)

Job Description

  1. The objective of the SCALE project is to support civil society organizations (CSOs) and business membership organizations (BMOs) across all of USAID/Nigeria’s programmatic sectors with a basket of managerial, business strengthening, and advocacy capacity-building interventions aimed at advancing Nigerian CSO sustainability combined with targeted grants to advance mutually agreed upon priorities.
  2. The activity is designed to enhance local civil society organizations’ ability to be positive and responsible change agents in Nigeria.

Purpose of Position

  1. The Program Associate will provide both technical, administrative and monitoring support for SCALE activities.
  2. The Program Associate will report to the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP).

Job Responsibilities

  1. Works closely with the Project Advisors to support SCALE partners with implementing project interventions, including coaching, mentoring and field visits, where necessary, and the development of annual workplans.
  2. Provides technical assistance to SCALE SGBV and CEFM (Component 5), backstop the Vulnerable Population
  3. Manager and engage with resource partners and clusters on implementation of project activities on behalf of the team.
  4. Represent the component in events and activities and develop reports of participation.
  5. Support Organizational Capacity Assessment of SCALE clusters and select resource partners and provide technical support for documentation of progress made by assessed organizations in implementing their capacity development plans.
  6. Supports project team to organize meetings with partners and other stakeholders.
  7. Maintains smooth relationships with all partners and stakeholders.
  8. Supports generation of monthly and quarterly reports, including success stories, and tracking progress on targets and indicators.
  9. Works with Project Advisors and the MEL team to develop and disseminate information to familiarize target audiences with SCALE project scope and activities.
  10. Maintains technical filing systems for the office.
  11. With support from the MEL team, assist partners to set up and maintain filing systems.
  12. Support project partners to ensure appropriate means of verifications of project results are collated and stored.
  13. Provides secretarial, administrative, and logistical support for meetings and other project events.
  14. Assists with the procurement of materials needed for project events.
  15. Other tasks as deemed necessary by the Deputy Chief of Party (DCOP).

Job Requirements

  1. A Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Accountancy, Administration, Knowledge Management, or related field.
  2. Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible NGO experience in program management, partner management, monitoring, evaluation and learning, and office operations/administration.
  3. Competency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint required
  4. Ability to maintain financial records and prepare financial reports.
  5. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills are required.
  6. Ability to take initiative, work independently, and to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
  7. Strong oral/written communication skills in English.
  8. Experience with USAID-funded governance programs highly desired.
