Job Description

  2. The programs partnership officer’s support is essential to promote consistent, strategic engagement with investors, stakeholders, and other cooperating partners that reflects the evolving nature of Welcome2Africa International.

Job Responsibilities
Within the Programs Department led by the Programs Lead, the Program Partnership Officer is expected to:

  1. Strengthen Welcome2Africa’s existing partnerships with regional development banks, investors and stakeholders by exploring and identifying new strategic and operational entry points for collaboration.
  2. Manage a portfolio of partnerships within the policies of W2A
  3. Provides strategic assistance to Program Officers, in developing strategies and processes, as well as in initiating and enhancing partnership relationships with multilateral and bilateral development institutions, foundations and the private sector
  4. Manage large projects with a degree of independence and discretion within the policies of Welcome2Africa
  5. To draw attention to new developments in research areas ; and
  6. To identify when project-supported activities merit publication or some other form of wider dissemination to development audiences.
  7. Develop and update fact sheets, internal guidance notes, and engagement strategies on specific Welcome2Africa partnerships.
  8. Develop briefing notes, key messages and talking points for W2A participation in meetings and events with investors and stakeholders.
  9. Work closely with the Programs and Research team to develop and maintain a partnership tracker.
  10. Support partner follow-up schedule and ensure monitoring visits or emails happen in coordination with the Communications team and responsible program officers.
  11. In coordination with Communications team, translate emergency operations’ priorities into concrete initiatives by supporting the design and execution of advocacy related activities including proposals, concept notes, presentations, and reports.

Support for Specific Projects:
Working in partnership with the responsible Program Officer:

  • Collaborates in developing and writing proposals for investors;
  • Participates in negotiations with investors partners;
  • Helps in the preparation of the budget and ensures appropriate -recovery of administrative costs; and
  • Supports the monitoring of the performance of partnerships

Job Requirements

  1. Advanced University Degree in Communications, Agricultural Economics or any other related courses.
  2. At least 4 years of progressively responsible professional experience in donor relations, fundraising, partnerships, communication, programme implementation in a global organization.
  3. Strong conceptual thinking to create relevant advocacy materials for projects and activities with innovative elements.
  4. Ability to build and strengthen and leverage a range of relationships using formal and informal opportunities. Collaborative spirit and ability to tactfully engage with a wide range of people at all levels and across different cultures and to act with credibility and diplomacy.
  5. Ability to plan, anticipate requirements, problems and obstacles, juggle competing priorities successfully, and work to tight deadlines with a high degree of autonomy.
