Job Position: Safety Inspection / HSE Officer
Location: Ibese Plant, Ogun

Job Summary

Participate in implementing the DCP-approved occupational safety program, analysing and administering various components of the safety programs.

Job Responsibilities

1. Implement approved safety plans and programs in the Plant and monitor employees’ compliance with safety policies.
2. Support in planning and promoting safety programs and conducting periodic assessments to identify program deficiencies.
3. Assist in conducting safety drills at the Plant, in line with the approved schedule.
4. Evaluate hazardous conditions and recommend engineering controls, administrative controls, and/or use of personal protective equipment.
5. Perform or assist with accident investigations as required and ensure prompt communication of recommendations to all concerned parties.
6. Support in the execution of approved corrective action to prevent future incidents.
7. Provide information to Compensation Administrators for the timely processing of compensation benefits for injured individuals.
8. Maintain complete and accurate records of safety activities and accident occurrences, and develop periodic reports to determine safety trends and needs.
9. Conduct periodic inspections of DCP Plants to assist managers and supervisors in environmental, health, and safety compliance.
10. Collect, analyse and maintain data essential for effective safety programs.
11. Establish and maintain harmonious relationships with other employees, officials, external organisations, and representatives of Local, State, and Federal agencies.
12. Participate in the conduct of basic HSE induction exercises for Plant employees, contractors and visitors.

Education and Work Experience

1. B.Sc Degree in Engineering or its equivalent in any science discipline.
2. Minimum of three (3) years relevant work experience.
3. Membership of a relevant safety institute, e.g. IOSH and ISPON.
4. Relevant safety training from a recognised safety Professional body such as BSC and ISPON.

1. Adequate knowledge of the cement and manufacturing industry.
2. Adequate knowledge of safety regulations.
3. Ability to adequately analyse an incident and proffer valuable solutions.
4. Ability to communicate incidents and emergencies
5. Excellent organisational skills.
6. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
7. Ability to work effectively in a team.
8. High sense of responsibility and accountability.
